I walk back to my house with Matthew. "Are you sure that your parents won't mind?" I ask him.
"It's fine. They'll be glad that I'm out of the house for a while." he says with a smile.
We make it to my front door and I walk in. He follows me and closes the door. We walk to the kitchen and I see my mum cooking something on the stove.
She turns around and when she sees Matthew she lights up.
"Oh, I wasn't expecting you to come over today. Are you two going somewhere?" she asks.
"No," I say, "Matthew is staying for dinner."
She smiles and looks at the pot on the stove.
"Oh, okay. Well, I'll have to cook more food then." She says with a smile. I smile back and I walk down the hall and Matthew follows. We walk into my room and I leave the door cracked open so my parents don't get the wrong idea.
He stands in front of my bed, evaluating the posters on my red walls.
"Your mom seems nice." He says with a smile and looks at me.
"Yeah. She is. My dad is more of the protective one of the two." I laugh. He turns around to my vanity across from my bed. He looks at me through the mirror. He looks at the wooden platform and takes ahold of a CD case.
"Simple Plan?" He asks. I furrow my brows and he places the CD in my CD player. He presses play and "Welcome to My Life" starts playing. "I've never really heard rock music. Well, besides Green Day."
"You should try it. It's better than what is on the radio." I say.
"It sounds depressing." He says.
"Listening to rock?" I ask him and walk up next to him.
"No, the song." He says. The CD is actually a mixed tape that I got off of YouTube. The next song comes on and it is "Absolutely" by Nine Days.
"Welcome To My Life or this one?" I ask.
"Welcome to My Life." He says and faces me. "Well, let's get to that homework." He says and sits on my bed.
