(Y/N)-POV

Walking down the hallway, following the person who was leading me to Dr. Clef's office, I see a lot of rooms. Twists and turns, everything makes me dizzy. First, I get hired to become an assistant researcher for a senior  researcher, now we're walking down the hall.

I kept my composure. I couldn't let them know I was having a panic attack in the moment!

"Hey, pipsqueak." A deep, rough voice sounded. I jumped and looked behind me to see a tall man with a large hat shading over his eyes. I could smell the cigarette smoke coming off of him. It smelled nice.

I was raised around people who smoked, don't judge me.

I could see a glint, not good.

"(Y/N), this is Dr. Alto Clef. He is the Senior researcher you are going to be working with." One of the O5 explained the situation, then gave me a folder, whispering before they went off with the other O5, "Be careful around him. Don't trust him either, he's a liar." I gave them a confused look before looking at the folder, which read CLASSIFIED.

I shoved it carefully in my bag before turning towards the Researcher I am going to be stuck with for God knows how long. "So, what did they tell ya?" He went from a casual tone to a 'I want to hear the secrets' tone extremely quick. If you asked me, I'd say he has a few screws loose in the head.

But, I can't say that in front of him now, can I? He is, after all, now my boss.

He decided we should go over some ground rules, but I didn't really pay attention. He seemed to notice because I saw him smirk in the corner of my eye.

"Would you mind telling me what is going on in that pretty little head of yours? Or will you actually listen. I could just hand you over to one of the other Researchers and let them teach you." He had a look in his eyes. A glint only I seemed to notice.

He was lying.

"Really, now? So, if I were to change immediately over to another Senior Researcher, you couldn't give two flying shits about it?" I looked at him, as cocky as I am being, I still respect him. He just seems to need a little teasing. Fine then, I'll play along.

He seemed to be taken aback as he gripped the Ukulele, his smirk faltered a bit but he quickly regained his posture, shooting another remark.

"Oh yeah, and you wouldn't see me again. Unless you want me to tell you something?" He replied. Again, that glint in his eyes told me he was lying. Again, I played along.

"Oh sure, and I can tell you something about me." I scoffed, crossing my arms as I felt his grinning gaze upon me.

I then found myself pushed up against the wall, Dr. Clef's arms trapping me in. Looking me in the eyes, he analyzed them. He was trying to find something.

I already knew what he is, but decided against on telling him. Who knows what he'll do to me if I were to say something. The only self defense I know is against a human being, and he is definitely not human.

But you know what?

Neither am I.

But that doesn't mean I have the power he does, and reality benders can get pretty powerful. I don't know why they would still hire me, but they did.

"You are qualified to work here Ms/Mr. (L/N)."

I gave a look of shock as they handed me the signing sheets.

"Wait, seriously? I am qualified to be here? You aren't going to tell anyone what I can do, right?"

"Of course. You are very much qualified to work here, but that's the thing. You would have been known as an SCP if you hadn't encouraged us. And no, we are not going to tell anyone what you can do. That is something you can do yourself, if you want that is." They responded with enthusiasm.

I would have been an SCP. A walking target. That would have been dangerous for me if I hadn't signed up here. But then again, I still am here. And so is the reality bender.

"I have one more question." I told them. I paused for a minute and they gestured me to go on.

"Am I working with the reality bender known as 'Alto' Clef? I'd like too. It's not like I can do anything to him, since I don't have any power he has." They looked shocked and worried. They nodded their heads and handed me a picture of a guy with . . . a bird head. What the hell?

"It's kind of impossible to catch a picture of him, but you will see him when we introduce you both to each other," They looked like they wanted to say something else. "When you do meet him, don't be offended by anything he says, instead just try in your power to fire back." I nodded and smiled.

"I'm glad to be an AR here! I look forward to starting work!" I told them excitedly.
