Sisters get promoted to Aunts!

Riya was at a meeting in the conference room and listening to the speaker when she noticed that her Bhai who was at the head of the table was looking out of the window and smiling slightly to himself. That sight itself made her look at him really carefully. Quite unimaginable for Bhai to be not paying attention. What was happening, she wondered. And Bhai smiling? She resolved to ask him that very afternoon. As if on cue Dev looked at her and smiled at her with a wink, which further surprised her. After the meeting, she barged into his room and waited for him to get free. He did get free and immediately got up and held her by the hand and walked her to the sofa. The excitement in him was palpable and his smile was infectious.

Riya thought with a feeling of pure affection for her brother, " How many years Bhai, since I saw you smile so openly?"

Dev: " Riya main tujhse aur Nikki se kuch batana chahta tha. Badi mushkil se khud ko rok ke rakha. Par baat hi kuch aisi hai, ki ekdum se nahi kah sakta tha. Aur sun, aaj Nikki ko maine yahan bulaya tha ki tum dono ko saath hi bataoonga, par ab tujhe dekh ke control nahi ho raha"...he paused to take a breath..."Aur ek promise kar. Ye baat tu kisi aur ko nahi batayegi.."

Riya laughed out in delight, not knowing and not even caring what he wanted to say. If something gave her brother so much happiness, it had to be good news. "How long since Bhai had ever had good news which made him so happy? He so deserved happiness, yes my brother does deserve happiness so ..so much."

And Dev told her about Suhana, the entire story, starting from his meeting with Sonakshi, sharing the pics of Suhana on his mobile with her. She was shocked and then elated. This was such a twist, a happiness they had never thought possible. She grabbed his hand and cried tears of joy. Her brother, a father and she herself, an aunt! She complained why he hadn't told her so far, why had he hidden this news from her?

Dev: " Nahi Riya. Mujhe jab tak apne, Suhana aur even Sonakshi aur uske gharwalon ke baare mein certainity nahi thi, main ye baat Maa ke saamne le jaata toh aur complications ho jaate. Pata nahin Maa kaise react karegi, agar woh Suhana ko ghar le aane ki zidd karti...pata nahi kaise handle karta main. Main khud bhi itna confused tha, pehle mujhe vishwvas nahi hua, phir tu samajhati hi hogi, ki main Sonakshi se bahut naraaz hua. Par narazagi apni jagah, mujhe Suhana se milna bhi tha, jo ki Sonakshi ke paas hai. Toh bahut hi ajeeb se haalat the. Aur tu samjhati hi hogi ki Suhana ke Nana Nani bhi bahut khush nahi the mere unki life main wapas aane se. Riya understood his problems and was sympathetic to how he must have felt. She wondered what was the equation between Bhai and Sona Bhabhi, but refrained from asking directly. She also wondered what the reaction of her mother would be; without a doubt she would welcome her grandchild, but equally she would not welcome Sonakshi's entry back as well. Really Bhai had no option.

She listened while Bhai told her about the child and they shared their excitement holding hands and laughing about everything that he said with such pride and love about his daughter.

Riya: " Bhai... Sona bhabhi ka kya view tha? Aap se kaisa interaction raha?"

Dev: " Riya, without any doubt, Sonakshi ne Suhana ko chupa kar bahut galat kiya, par mujhe maloom hai ki usko is baat ki guilt hai. Aur sach toh yeh hai ki usne mujhse milne ke baad, mujhe Suhana se milane ki saari responsibility apne upar li. Maine jab Suhana se milna chaha usne saari arrangements kari, sabko manage kiya aur Suhana ko bhi mujhse comfortable karwaya.
