How Do You Get By That

It has been 3 weeks since Alex left and I haven't heard from her and either has her parents. It wasn't until I was with Eliza that I heard!
I was at the station when Eliza brought me lunch as I had been working very hard recently to get my mind off worrying.
"So she really hasn't called you?" She asked before taking a drink
"Nope not a word I'm giving her another week before I get Kara to track her who knows she might be busy!" I replied flicking through my phone.
We continued to eat until Pete walked in with a brown envelope.
"Danvers letter for you!" He said before handing it over and leaving. I opened it up and found a bunch of papers but a letter stapled to the front.

" To Maggie,
I don't know where to start! I should probably start with I'm sorry, I'm so so sorry if you've felt abandoned recently I've just needed time to think and I have to admit that I lied to you. I only went to London for the week but I just can't face you and I can't face our history.
I don't know if you've noticed recently but our relationship has run a little stale and we don't talk as much and with the baby in my eyes I feel like I have failed you and I'm a disappointment.
I always said I'd never run away from a relationship but for your sake I have to and I know you'll try to fight it but there's no point if we stay where we are someone will only get hurt. I love you Maggie I really do but unfortunately for your safety I've filed for divorce and all you have to do is sign and my attorney is coming to collect them at 3:30 on the 22nd so it should be the day you're reading this!

After reading it I turned it over to find divorce papers in which made me throw my lamp at the wall in rage.
Eliza jumped up and ran round throwing her arms around me.
"What's wrong?" She asked as I broke apart
"Alex wants a divorce I never thought she would run away that easy when things got hard!" I replied reading through the papers
"Are you going to sign them?" She said softly rubbing my back
"I always did what would make her happy and if it's going to help her then yes but I'm going to get her back!" I said being completely honest as I took a pen to the paper and signed the parts I was meant to.
" I hope you know no matter what you'll still be my daughter you've come this far and I have no doubt you'll get her back!" She supported me by wrapping her arms around me as I packed the papers into the envelope and sealed it.
We sat in complete silence until she had to go and catch a flight to her conference in Boston and I headed to the DEO for an update on the special service.
I decided to walk there and stop off at our favourite place the lake at the park. I stood and looked through the pictures of us on my phone. If you had told me a year ago I'd be marrying and divorcing Alex Danvers in a year I wouldn't believe you! I turned my attention to my ring in which I took off kissed and threw into the lake in a place we can be together in soul. I then took the awkward walk into the DEO a place where nobody knew what had happened and I thought maybe it would be nice but the picture of Alex and the leaders made me feel worse and that was quickly ruined by Jonn.
"Alex I need to talk to you" he shouted from a door way
I walked in to see Kara, Jeremiah, Winn and a few others sitting round the table.
"So we know!" Jeremiah said getting up and wrapping an arm around me.
"She sent us a letter explaining everything and I'm guessing you got one too!" Kara added as I nodded
"Yea and it would be great if we could just go back to normal and ignore it as I'm going to get her back!" I said before Jonn stood up
"Ok then you heard the lieutenant get back to work we've got things to show her" he said as we filed out of the room to meet Mon-el and Winn walking in to the building.
"Danvers hows it going!" Mon-el shouted making Kara throw a ball at him
"It's Sawyer me and Alex are getting divorced!"  I said with my head up making him hang his head
"Wow I'm sorry are you ok" he asked
"Yea I'm good cause it's not over yet!" I smiled before flicking through the files.

Alex POV
I feel really bad for doing that to Maggie but what else could I do I would have ended up ruining it over a long time than just biting the bullet before I ruined everything.

I was sitting on the beach talking on the phone to my dad and getting a lecture on why I made a mistake and to get back but like all of our discussions I choose to follow my own path.
I hung up the phone and stared at the water in front of me until I was interrupted.
"Are you ok?" I heard from behind it was a woman's voice and it was a foreign woman speaking beautiful broken English.
I turned around to see this beautiful woman standing in slim dress trousers and a white shirt with her coat in her hand with sunglasses across her face which she took off.
"Yea I'm good thanks just parents" I laughed as she sat
"Ahh I know how that feels! I got a lecture from mine to get back with my girlfriend who cheated on me" She smiled placing her jacket across her lap
"Mines want me to get back with my wife!" I replied making her look at me
"Between partners and parents you can't get anywhere" she said softly rested her head back
My only instinct was to throw out my hand for her to shake.
"Alex Danvers nice to meet you" I smiled
"Maria Savatier nice to meet you too!" She smiled back shaking my hand
"Busy day at work Maria I don't see many people casually wearing pant suits" I asked fixing my own jacket
"You can say that being a homicide detective doesn't make any day easier! What do you do Alex?" She replied while putting he jacket back on.
"It's hard to explain I work with Supergirl!" I whispered making her smile
"DEO? I've heard about you from work we worked with Agent Schott once good guy!" She said making me smile remembering my friend
"So I gotta go I'll see you around Alex...well at least I hope!" She smiled before walking off and leaving me back in my previous state.
