Hiding Myself From Loving You

Chapter 1:

[Gem's POV]

I'm Gem Yu. Yu Hui-Min, Yoo Hye-Min. Well I have three names, right!? My father's a Taiwanese, and my mother's a Korean, but they're already had US citizenship that approved here in Orlando, Florida since I was born, so the rest is history., and yeah, Mandarin Chinese, Korean and English are my mother tongues, but I'm more used to talking in English, esp w/ everybody around me. I'm in 19 years of age, and a senior high school student. Well, you seemed that girls' bestfriends are dresses!? Hell no!! Caps and men sized outfits are all my bestfriends, ya know!? /smirks/ XD I dont know, but wearing those girly stuffs made me uncomfortable on that way. Well, that's me, anyways.

Hanging out with the three McDonough brothers is always my pastime after school time. Anyways, they're my bestfriends since childhood, but I'm more close with the older and second brother, Connor and Riley. Connor's a year older than me, while Riley's a year younger. Their youngest one, Toby, hmmmm...we're also close, but I treated him like my younger bro (lol cos I'm an only child XD). Well, they love to mess me around, especially with my mother tongues, and anything, but even though, they knew me so well XD

I was inside my house, doing assignments and stuffs when the door bell's ringing, and I rushed to the door to open it, and here they are.

"Yo, Gem!"

It was Riley and Connor who went here, and they even brought their guitars and lunches.

"Da heck..." I cursed in Mandarin, "what brings you here, guys!?" I was in a bit annoyed tone, but deep inside, I grinned.

"Hey hey hey, why you sound so annoyed!? We're here to hang-out with you." Connor comforted me a bit.

"LOL. I'm just joking XD okay okay...come in guys. I know you're now hungr--"

"No need to cook for us, buddy. We bought our lunch for the three of us." Connor told me with a warm voice.

"Three!? Why didnt you add one!?" I asked them with eyes rolled.

Riley replied, "Toby wouldnt be with us today. He's now having a make-up class in Math, so he would stay there til 5pm."

"I see, but poor Toby. )): What happened and he has a make-up class today!?"

We've been chitchatting bout Toby not being with his brothers and its reasons til I later decided to watch a Chinese movie DVD (with English subtitles) bought by my father, but those two opposed.

"Ching chong ching chong again...English movie pleaaase!!" Riley demanded with a cute gesture.

"You dont watch!? Then go home no--"

"Oops. Sorry. We're just joking la." Connor grinned.

"Okay okay. Well, how bout we should try writing songs!? Whattya think!?"

"Whoaaa! What a great idea!" Connor exlaimed.

"My exact thoughts." Riley also agreed.

We were next heading to my room for a songwriting session when suddenly the door rang again.

"Mom, Dad, I'm coming"

I rushed again to the door, and I expected that it would be my parents since they'd be going home today from their business trip in Seoul, but there was one thing that shocked not only me, but also Riley and Connor.

"Hai buddy!"

"T-Toby!?"

"Wh--"

"Wait. You still have make-up classes this time, right!? Dont tell me you--"

My words had been cut when Riley asked me in a yell while in my room.

"Buddy, who's that!?"

"Your bro." I replied while shouting.

The two suddenly went downstairs to see their little bro in doors, but in a state of a little dismay.

"Toby!? Dont tell me you cut class..." Connor facepalmed a bit.

"Yeah.," Toby grinned, "the teacher's sooo boring, ya know...."

"But still, you should pay attention."

"Alright, alright. I'm sorry, Connor. I'm sorry, Ri."

"Lemme give our little bro a big hug from your big bros." Riley smiled while giving Toby a hug together with Connor, "by the way, wanna join us in writing songs?!"

"Wow! That would be really great!" Toby exclaimed.

"Then, come on! Let's go upstairs now!" I called them from upstairs.

[Toby's POV]

We started the songwriting session in Gem's room. Well, we're so bored that we even ate the lunch that Connor and Ri brought, but I shared the same meal with Gem in the end since they only brought three boxes.

While writing, I suddenly caught Ri staring at Gem in a long minute before he continued writing. I wanna ask either Gem or Ri bout that thing, but I decided to shut my mouth up. I dont know, but there's something in Riley's eyes that I couldnt explain. But well, let's see then.

[Connor's POV]

I suddenly reviewed my own work, and found out there were a few mistakes, so I did revised it. I put the song with a tune from my guitar when I suddenly my eyes caught on Riley staring at Gem, and I also did checked her reaction, but she instead focused on her paper like she didnt saw him. I dont know, but there's a part of me, wanting to be beside her, taking care of her, but...but I dont know...

I knew Gem wont entertain such acts. You know, love wasn't really on her personal vocabulary. Even though there are few who courted her years ago, but she directly rejected all of them. One reason she gave: she's a lesbian. Of course, thats an alibi after all, but I decided not to interfere with her decisions. Well, sad truth though.
