Spencer walked behind Marissa on the way into the police station. All he could think about what how beautiful she was and how much he wanted to kiss her, but as much he wanted to love her. He pushed those thoughts and feelings from his mind and focused on his job and the case they were about to be faced with.
They all gather in the bullpen of the police station and wait for the captain to come out so they could discuss their next move.
About twenty minutes later the police captain came through and greeted them.
"Hello, my name is Sergeant Jones. I'm sorry we had to meet under these conditions but it was necessary, we don't know how long the next victim has until he strikes again." Sergeant Jones turns to face the BAU team
"Have you had a chance to look at the crime scenes?""Not yet, we have been waiting to meet you and for you to lead us in the direction of the crime scene." Hotch says.
"Okay well I can take you the crime scene so you guys can get a feel of what this guy does." Jones turns in the direction of the door and leads the way to the cars.
Spencer helps Marissa out the SUV this time so she doesn't fall out. He tries his best to keep his smile to himself but even holding her hand to help her step down from the doorframe of the vehicles gave him butterflies and heartwarming feels that he had to push down so he could focus on his job.
The crew looks at the crime scene and Morgan and Spencer try to recreate what happened. Marissa watches. After all she is junior agent. She's not apart of the team yet. She didn't even have a degree in this field. Her degree was in Education. So at least she had something to fall back on. Maybe she could be an educator on this line of work instead of like math and reading like courses. After seeing all this. That just seemed well pretty boring to her.
Marissa hasn't realized that she had dozed off but Spencer noticed. He always noticed.
Morgan begins to snap in front of Spencer's face.
"Hey kid, you alright?"
Spencer snaps out of his trance.
"Yeah Morgan I'm fine. I just got a little distracted. That's all." Spencer shakes off his feelings and focuses on the case.
The next few days were spent trying to find the bad guy. Same ole same ole. They had a few hints of where their suspect was hiding and so they sent out search cars to go find out if their suspect was really hiding out there.
"We just got a call. He's there. Let's go team." Hotch sticks his head in the door on his way to the cars. Everyone follows him.
Things between Marissa and Spencer were quiet on the ride to the suspects house. They shared longing glances back and forth. Marissa turned away and stared at the window.
Once they finally arrived at the suspects house, the team drew their guns and walked towards the house.
Morgan kicked in the door
"FBI" he shouts as he moves forward motioning for the rest of the team to follow. Marissa stayed outside leaning against the car. She was only a junior agent, she didn't have gun clearance yet, she didn't even have a real badge. She stares at Spencer as he enters the house, a slight smile forms on her lips. She began to pick at her fingernails, her matte blue nail polish was starting to curl and peel off. Maybe Spencer would give her a reason to get them redone. A gun shot rang through the air. Marissa felt her heart began to beat rapidly. All she could think was please don't let it be Spencer. Or Aunt Jen. Don't let it be them. She closed her eyes and willed that it wasn't them."Someone call an ambulance. Reid's been shot." Morgan calls out of the house.
Marissa felt her heart sink. Of course it was him. Nothing ever worked well in her favor. The universe just flat out hated her and since she wasn't supposed to like him she couldn't act like she was so torn up about him getting shot. I mean She could, but it might ruin other things for her.
She took a moment to collect herself and she called 911."Hello yes, Junior FBI Marissa Jareau here, we're at 2145 Elsinore Road, one of our agents has been shot." The dispatcher says there are sending someone out right away. Once a few moments passes Marissa began to hear sirens and knew the ambulance was on its way. She directed the EMT into the house and called out for her team to find where they were.
"In the living room." Morgan calls and Marissa leads them in there. She freezes at the sight of Spencer lying on the living room carpet, his eyes fluttered up at her. Marissa felt tears well up in her eyes, they rolled down her eyes.
"Hey I'm okay, it's just a flesh wound, it'll probably just have to be removed or something." Spencer chuckles and then winces in pain.
"You don't look fine." Marissa crouches down to be next to him. She takes a hold of his hand. Marissa leans her head down next to his and presses her lips against his.
"Try not to die on me now." She whispers and pulls away as the EMTS put Spencer on the gurney and pull him out of the living room.
Marissa wipes her eyes and follows the gurney outside.
"Does he have any family that would like to accompany him to the hospital?" The EMT asks.
"None of us are is family." Hotch speaks up "But a supervisor can ride over with him. JJ you go." JJ smiles and goes over to the ambulance and jumps in the back with Spencer.
Spencer opens his eyes and sees the bright blonde hair of JJ
"Hey spence, how ya doing?" She smiles down at him.
"It hurts but I'm alright. There's something we need to talk about." He breathes out.
"I know Spence but let's wait till you feel a little better." JJ smiles again and takes ahold of his hand as they journey to the local hospital
