Chapter 7

Emerald P.O.V

I groaned in pain when I landed on the grass on my back. Shit. This hurt like bitch. I lied there for a while until pain subside a little. I was lying on my back looking at the blue sky. I can hear birds chirping, grunting of deer, scraping on woods. For a movement it was peaceful , I closed my eyes breathing in the fresh air. I can literally taste nature on my tongue. 

Suddenly I heard a loud scream from somewhere in the forest. I quickly stood up groaning in pain when my back started hurting again. But I ignored the pain and ran in the direction of where the sound came from. Tree barks were scraping my skin when I ran past them but I didn't heed to them. My first priority was to reach to that scream, it was my first instinct to help that person because that scream was of fear. 

When I reached there, I saw a young girl probably seven or eight years old. She was backed against a tree and a wolf was stalking her way, baring his sharp teeth in her direction ready to pounce. Without thinking, I pushed myself in between the girl and wolf. 

Wolf looked startled for a second but quickly regained his posture back. Now he was baring his teeth at me. 

"Are you okay?" I asked to the girl without looking at her.

 My whole focus was on the wolf. He was brown color enormous wolf. 

"Yeah" she whimpered. 

Now what. I don't have powers anymore. 

By looking at the wolf, I can conclude he will devour me whole without any issue. 

Think Em. Think . 

Running is not an option either. He will easily catch up to us. Girl behind me moved a little and held my jacket. She was shaking in fear. Tears were running down her rosy cheeks. I inhaled deeply and pushed my right leg forward bending in attacking position. I am a Sabriyan, I can fight with a wolf even without my powers. Wolf took the same position growling at me.  I leap in his direction and pinned him down. His eyes are of surprise and then suddenly he turned us over pinning me on the ground. I groaned feeling pain in my back. His saliva dripping down on my cheeks. Ew. I quickly held his muzzle by my right hand so that he couldn't bite me and my other hand was holding his front paw. He was trying to get out of the hold. He raised his free paw to attack me but before that I kicked him with full force and stood up in an attacking position. 

He quickly stood up as well growling louder this time. Maybe I bruised his manly ego. Without wasting any second he lunged for my neck. I quickly get out of the way which resulted in him being slammed into the tree behind me. He whimpered from the pain. I looked towards the girl for a second, she was in the same position sobbing. I went towards her and took her hand in mine and started running in the other direction. I know that wolf will be behind us in no time. But at least we have a little head start. That girl didn't ask any question and ran with me.

I can hear the sound of paws running behind us. I tried to quicken our speed but the little girl tripped over a branch but before she could fell forward and hurt herself. I dived in front of her catching her in my arm falling on my back. I groaned from the impact. My already bruised back was hurting more now. "We have to go" I murmured to the girl. She nodded and stood up, I followed her and again took her hand in mine ready to run when I felt an impact on my back making me fell face first on the ground.

 "Ow" I cried out in pain. 

There was a body weight on me and I can hear growling above me. He caught up to us. I tried to wiggle out of it but he was heavy. Now what ! He is going to end my life any time. I never thought this would happen. Its not only an hour and I am already in danger.
