Weird little Valentine

Epilogue

- Valentine -

It has been six years since Julia and Ellie left and we are celebrating it at the local park. It is Saturday and we are having a barbeque with friends. The weather is dry and sunny making It such a beautiful day today. 

My dad is doing the barbeque because he is a good cook. His boss is helping too and together they are working as a team just like they do at work now. Yes, you got it. My dad's boss saw potential in my dad and after being promoted, his boss decided that the pair should work together because my dad had great ideas and techniques. 

Josh came out as gay and has a lovely boyfriend called Leon now. They have been going out for a year and two months in a few weeks. His dad took a while to adjust but loves him no matter what and has gotten used to it. Josh and I get along so well now, it's nice to have him around. Josh is cuddling Leon and listening to music together right now so we have all left them to have some alone time.

Tito and his pregnant girlfriend, Tanya, are here too and they are currently sat on the large table we have set out. They are expecting a little girl in a month so Tanya has a big belly which bring back memories and is super cute. 

JJ's brother, Andy was going to come but is holiday at the moment in Egypt. However, JJ's parents are here and are talking to my co-worker Noah and his wife Linda. Noah and Linda's children, George and Rebecca, are at their grandparents today so they aren't here.

I heard a familiar voice shouting, "Blue!"  

I turn around to see my four year old boy running away from a soaking Travis. I laugh.

"Baby, what are you doing to uncle Travis?" I pick up Blue and stroke his soft, brown hair. 

"That little monkey, pushed me into the pond when I was next to it." Travis complained, taking his t-shirt off. He is wet as a dog right now and my little boy has got a lot of strength for a four year old. He loves to cause trouble too so standing next to a pond is a bad idea when Blue is around.

"Blue Sheldon Heston Lee Dennis!" JJ called walking up to us. "Have you been causing trouble again?" 

Blue nodded and stuck his tongue out. JJ did the same which has made Blue laugh now. JJ just took Blue from me and put him down on the ground.

"He's a little hyper 'cause Travis gave him Cola."  I roll my eyes at Travis who is smirking at me. 

Blue is now playing in a flower patch that is next to us. JJ just shook his head. "We should get him a sand pit." 

I laugh and turn to see Blue throwing dirt around. "Good idea."

Everybody is sitting at the table now. All together there is Tito, Tanya, me, Nelson (my dad), JJ, Blue, Josh, Marcus (Josh's dad), Leon, Noah, Linda, Joe (JJ's dad) and Dianne (JJ's mum). It was nice having all the company around. We are all eating and talking to each other and the atmosphere is positive. 

Everyone has finished their food now and we are all enjoying the sun while my dad and Josh's dad clear up. JJ, Blue and I are sat on a picnic blanket having some alone time. Blue is playing with his toy cars that we brought for him and me and JJ are cuddling. 

"I have enjoyed today so much, JJ." I sigh.

"Me too, beautiful. It's been nice to spend time with you and Blue as a family." he agrees.

I sit up and smile. "I want to ask you somehting, JJ."

"What's that?" He asks, raising an eyebrow before adding. "I'm not going to have sex in the bushes with you!"

"Not that." I laugh, getting on one knee and pulling a ring box out of my pocket. "Will you marry me, JJ?" 

He smiles a big smile. "Isn't it the man's job to do this?" 

I shush him. "I'm weird like that okay. I want to do it." 

He laughs. "Ask me again then."

I sigh and do what he says. "John-Joe Lee Dennis. Will you marry me for fucks sake?"

He chuckles. "Of course I will my weird little Valentine."
