The bluenette's heart was beating at a swift pace. Marinette had surely surprised herself tonight, considering that she had the guts to announce her engagement. Her greatest hope, temporarily, at least, was that everyone would accept her somewhat abrupt shift from Adrien to Chat Noir. To mentally prepare herself, Marinette sprinted to her trapdoor and locked it to prevent a potential mob of enraged people from barging into her room.
"Tikki, I need to relieve my stress," Marinette murmured to her kwami, feeling herself begin to sweat from the overwhelming amount of stress she felt.
Tikki hesitantly nodded. "Transform if you wish, Mari."
"Tikki, transform me!" Then and there, Marinette transformed into Paris' super heroine, also known as Ladybug. She leapt off her balcony, zipping across the city of Paris.
Snow rapidly plummeted from the twinkling night sky, but Ladybug pushed through the darkness, her heart continuing to race with anxiety. Ladybug sped across the city until she reached, specifically, the Eiffel Tower. The iron structure loomed over the city of love ever so proudly, but it unfortunately gave Ladybug horrible memories.
They both sucked up the strip of spaghetti, their eyes shut tight— that's when their lips met. This wasn't what Ladybug asked for.
Ladybug immediately stood up and pulled away from the table. "Eww, disgusting! Oh my— this isn't what I wanted! All I suspected was a nice dinner with my partner in crime!"
Chat felt a bullet pierce through his heart. He felt nothing except for his love for Ladybug shattering. Shortly after her comment, Ladybug leapt off the Eiffel Tower, leaving Chat alone with his heart broken into pieces.
"T-This is when I shattered his heart," Ladybug's breath hitched in realization as she hurried to the top of the Eiffel Tower. Upon reaching the top, she repeatedly hit her yo-yo against the Eiffel Tower's composition, unleashing her pent-up rage.
"I put him through so much pain, pain that he didn't deserve!" The bluenette cried out. "Paris deserves a better hero than me!"
Ladybug, in slight hesitance, yanked her earrings out of her ears. She winced in pain, but stared at her earrings; perfection was plastered on every inch of those damn earrings and she wasn't perfection. If anything, Marinette thought of herself as the definition of a failure and she had enough of dealing with herself constantly failing.
Master Fu chose the wrong girl to be a heroine, she frowned at her earrings, grabbing a nearby box and shoving her earrings inside; Marinette halfheartedly secured the box by shutting it.
"Marinette, no! Please don't do this!" Tikki begged, but it was too late. Marinette felt guilty for abandoning her former kwami, but remorse wasn't an option anymore and soon enough, she wouldn't be engaged to anybody.
Marinette walked over to the edge of the Eiffel Tower and swallowed her pride. It was quite a drop, Marinette would admit, but at least the impact would kill her. She turned around and squeezed her eyes shut.
Goodbye, world.
She took a singular backwards and plunged towards the ground. Completely on purpose.
In the distance, Chat Noir witnessed the entire event. He had seen her identity, her contemplative state, but in a second, it seemed, he saw her falling.
He saw her falling.
