The feline felt his heart drop. He couldn't believe what he was seeing— his lover, his Ladybug, his partner in crime, his future wife, plummeting from the twinkling sky similar to a shooting star. He didn't hesitate breaking into a sprint and by the time he had reached her, she was roughly twenty feet from slamming against the ground.
He closed his eyes, holding his arms out to sturdily catch her. Chat caught her, however, he practically dipped her, her head barely touching the terrain.
"Marinette, what the hell were you thinking?" Chat murmured to his girlfriend, concerning glistening in his emerald green eyes.
"H-How did you save me in time?" She avoided the question the hero had asked, staring at him in shock.
"With my reflexes, I didn't desire for M'Lady to die along with our beautiful baby." Chat replied honestly, mentally acknowledging that Marinette had ignored his question.
"Also, I revealed to my family that we've been supposedly engaged for a long time, specifically for nine months." Marinette said as Chat released her from his grasp. He didn't respond and figured he should allow her to continue talking. "Everybody looked surprised; everybody looked like they didn't accept me." She subtly sniffled, tears beginning to swell in her bluebell eyes.
"Mari.." Chat felt himself trail away from his sentence. "Why wouldn't they accept you? You're dating one of the most heroic figures of Paris."
"I-I'm not sure," Marientte's eyes finally released the waterworks, her tears blending in with the color of her eyes, commencing her to sob. Chat's eyes widened and he suddenly rushed to her aid, embracing her in a tight, loving hug.
"Don't worry," he murmured into her ear. "They're just jealous of your stunning good looks. On top of that, they're also jealous of you dating me."
The bluenette hid a smile under her frown. Her smile widened a bit when he said, "Like I said, I'll always be here for you." They pulled away from each other and Chat saw his girlfriend was smiling, so he understood that was a good sign.
Before anything worse happened, Chat suggested to Marinette, "C'mon, let's go home." He picked her up, holding her in bridal style, and was about to launch his staff until Marinette suddenly gasped. "Wait! I need to get something real quick."
The blond haired hero raised an eyebrow at her. "Huh? What do you need to get, M'Lady?"
"S-Something is up on the Eiffel Tower. I-I need it back." Marinette said, visibly nervous, and freed herself from Chat's grasp.
"Wait, what do you need to get? Just tell me!" Chat begged his girlfriend. Before she could walk any further, Chat pulled Marinette back into his arms, making it impossible for her to escape.
Marinette took two minutes to attempt to escape again, but was clearly unsuccessful. She sighed in defeat, saying, "Fine. You really want me to tell you, don't you? Jeez, you're such a curious kitty.. haha." She uncomfortably smiled, realizing how dire her situation was, looking at the top of the Eiffel Tower.
"I need my Miraculous back."
