Chapter Thirty-One

Craig pulled up into Dominique's driveway and parked it, he got out the car and walked up to the door where he began knocking. Kevin got up and opened the door to see Craig standing there.

Kevin: Hello Craig.

Craig: Hey Mr.Gomez.

Kevin: Come on in.

Craig walked in the house to see Tammy sitting on the couch smiling at him, she got up and hugged him, he hugged back. She pulled away from him and they both sat on the couch, Kevin walked to the couch and sat right beside Craig.

Tammy: It's good to see you again Craig.

Craig: You too Mrs...

Tammy: You can just call me Tammy.

Kevin: And you can call me Kevin.

Craig: Ok.

Tammy: Would you like somthing to drink?

Craig: No thank you. How's Dominique doing?

Kevin: She doing ok, she has bruises on her wrist, back and her cheek where he slapped her and she had a really big bruise on the side of her stomach, but the doctor said she was going to be ok.

Craig looked down at his hands as he felt tears about to come out of his eyes. He shook his head and started to cry.

Craig:-crying- I'm so sorry y'all.

Kevin: Why are you sorry?

Craig: Because, I promised her that I wouldn't let anything or anybody hurt her, but look what had happened. I promised her and I let her down.

Tammy: No Craig, you didn't know that was going to happen, none of us did.

Craig: This is all my fault.

Kevin: No it's no son, you didn't let her down.

Craig: Yes I did, I was suppose to be there for her, but I wasn't.

Kevin: Actually, you was there for her.

Craig: I was?

Kevin: Yes, he may had got her a little, but if you hadn't ran up to him, then he would have done a lot more damage to her. We know you love Dominique with all your heart and we know that you wouldn't let anything bad happen to her.

Tammy: That's right Craig, we are so grateful to have you in her life and we want to thank you for helping her today.

Craig wiped his tears as he started smiling at Kevin and Tammy.

Kevin: That boy just better be happy that you beat his ass, cause if I was there, I would have been in jail by now.

Craig:-laughs- Yeah.

Tammy: Did you get in trouble at school, because if you did then me and Kevin will go down to the school and talk to the principle for you.

Craig: No, I didn't get in trouble, but Jason is going to get expelled.

Kevin: Good, I don't want him anywhere near my baby.

Craig: I feel you sir.

Tammy: You know you can go upstairs and talk to Dominique.

Craig:-sighs- I don't know if I can.

Kevin: Why not?

Craig: She's probably mad at me and don't want to see me right now.
