Victoria dreaded wearing the black dress her mother had bought her so many years ago, she had always thought she would wear it to a party or a dance. She never thought she was going to wear it to her best friends funeral. Draco had to drag her from her room the day of the funeral, Fleur had done her makeup for her. She could barely move anymore, it seemed like too much effort.
Why should she still be here? What gave her the privilege? Why did Skye die and Victoria live? The questions floated through her head as they apparate to the funeral. Victoria stood next to George in the very front of the funeral party. They held hands as they sobbed over the graves of their best friends, they couldn't bring themselves to speak at the funeral. Molly spoke first.
"Fred and Skye are, sorry, were, some of the best people I had ever known. Fred was so enamored with Skye in his life. I was-I was already planning their wedding." Molly let out a sob "He was always playing pranks and joking around. It's hard to believe that i'm going to have to make dinner for one less child. I-I-" She took a breath "We'll miss them dearly." She stepped down, Arthur took her in his arms as soon as she stepped down. You could hear her sobs from across the yard.
Victoria just stared down at Skye's body as the others spoke, none of them knew her like she did. They didn't know how much she loved hot chocolate, or that she loved to read muggle books. They didn't know she had a little scar on her shoulder from a stray cat when she was 11. They didn't know her like Victoria did. None of them would ever get to know her like that either, because she was dead. Victoria would never get to hear her laugh, or see her smile, she would never get to hug her again.
They would never have late night chats by the Black Lake, or play pranks on Pansy Parkinson again. She was dead. Skye was dead. Fred and Skye were buried next to one another, in Skye's headstone was carved. Loving friend, daughter, and wife. An amazing person. "Some hearts understand each other-"
On Fred's wrote. Remembered forever as a brother, son, and husband. The quote finished on his headstone "in life and death."
After the funeral George pulled Victoria aside, firstly he gave her a hug. They sobbed into each others shoulders for a second before he pulled away.
"I-um-I found this in Skye's room. It's-it's addressed you." George handed her a envelope,Skye's neat handwriting on the back.
Dear Victoria,
I'm so sorry. I'm sorry for everything. I shouldn't of given you the love potion. I'm sorry. Tell Draco, Merlin I can't believe i'm writing this! Tell him i'm sorry. I can see how much he loves you. I can see how right you two are together. I'm sorry I didn't see it sooner. You are amazing in everyway Victoria. I miss you so much. I just want you to know ever since I left Hogwarts during fifth year I never stopped wondering if you were okay. I love you so much. I'm sorry I'm not with you anymore. I'm sorry i've failed at everything. Ha. Except Fred I didn't fail at getting him. Could you please give him a hug for me? Oh don't forget George he gets upset when I pay too much attention to Fred. Tell Fred I love him. Tell him I miss him so so much. I miss everyone so much. I hope you and Draco have a happy wedding. One filled with bright orange roses! Those were always my second favorite. Also I expect fireworks to be going off at my funeral! You know I don't want any of that sad shit. Well, hopefully this never reaches you. If it does. I'm sorry. Don't forget me.
