I sat beside Ricky on the bus, the other guys and girls going to their bunks to sleep for the night. I wanted to read a bit further in my book, and Ricky was reading one as well. He said he just wanted to read a few more chapters.
After a while, I heard Ricky yawn and close his book. "Are you going to bed?" I asked him. He set his book on a table nearby and stretched out on the couch beside me. He lifted my arms, which were resting on my lap and holding my book, and placed his head in their place. I sighed, smiling down at him. "Am I your pillow now?" He smiled. "Maybe."
I closed my book and set it down beside me. "Alright, then. Get some sleep." I began to run my fingers gently through his hair as his eyes began to close. His breathing evened out and he was soon asleep.
My eyes began to close and I decided to go to bed. I gently lifted his head from my lap, placing a nearby pillow in its place. I also found a blanket to cover him with before crouching down in front of him.
I stroked my thumb against his cheek gently, not wanting to wake him. He looked so peaceful as I brushed away a few stray hairs from his face, a small smile forming on his lips. I smiled as I turned off the light and went to my bunk.
I woke the next morning with arms wrapped around my waist and a face buried in my neck. I looked at their hands and immediately recognized Ricky's tattoos. I smiled to myself as I placed my hands over his.
"Good morning, beautiful," he mumbled into my neck. I rolled over to face him and he smiled at me sleepily.
"Good morning, Ricky. I thought I left you on the couch."
"I got lonely," he replied sheepishly. I let out a small laugh as I rested my head on his chest.
