I sat curled up on my bed, crying with a heavy heart. I hadn't moved much today after hearing the news. My phone kept going off throughout the day, but I was too depressed to go retrieve it. It was probably just a text or two and social media notifications. I'll answer them later.

Soon I heard the front door open and close and footsteps running up the stairs. I looked up through teary eyes as Ricky burst in the room, worry and panic written on his face. "Savannah!" He rushed to my side and grabbed my hand with both of his. "What's wrong? You haven't answered your phone all day! I thought something terrible happened to you!"

"Ricky, my friend died today," I cried, a tear falling. He frowned and climbed onto the bed, laying beside me and pulling me close to him. "I am so sorry, sweetheart." He pulled me closer and I nuzzled my face into his neck, crying softly. He rubbed circles on my back as I calmed down and laid my head on his chest, listening to his heartbeat. "Cry as much as you need to, but just remember all the good times you had with them." I sniffled and nodded, looking up at him.

Ricky gave a small smile and brushed my tears away with his thumb. "I know it's hard to deal with now, but they won't want you to grieve forever. They would want you to move on and live your life while they remain in your memories. They may be gone physically, but never spiritually." He kissed me lightly and I rested my head on his chest again as he ran his fingers through my hair.

"Just rest, baby. I know you've had a rough day." He put on a movie and I soon fell asleep wrapped in his embrace.
