Chapter 1
Isadora
The horde of Werewolves (I don't know the correct term so I'm just sticking with horde) descends on the church and I waste no time in going into offensive mode. One of my heels falls off mid-jump and I pull the other off once on a Were's shoulders and use it to stab it in the temple.
It's down after a few seconds and I jump off as I see how everyone else is doing. Meg is fine, expertly ducking and weaving away from attacks as she strikes out with her blade, Eli watching her back as he uses a broken branch as a dagger and manages to stab one. A blur passes by on my left and I turn just in time to see Lanny's Wolf slam into the side of the church.
I panic, reaching out for her, "are you okay, Lan?" She whimpers and nods, staggering to her feet as I look around for Lin. My husband. A sudden surge of pure happiness courses through me and I push it away, remembering why I need him. He's not that far away from me, trying to ward off a Were, and I whistle to him. He looks at me and catches the dagger that I throw to him, stabbing it once he has the chance.
He jogs over to me, holding out the dagger's hilt to me to take back. I shake my head and he drops it back down to his side, looking to me questioningly, "Lin..." I can see when he realizes what I want him to do, and I try not to change my mind as he shakes his head, determined.
But this needs to be done. "Lin, Lan's hurt. I need you to take her downstairs to Robby. It'll only take a second and then you can come back."
He gives a quick nod, not at all happy about what I'm asking him to do but willing to do it to make me happy. I give him a quick kiss and watch as he goes over and picks up Lanny before carrying her inside to the basement. If it weren't for the fact that Lin's now rather capable I would have sent him down with the others to begin with.
Okay, now that they're out of the way I can focus without worrying. I don't have long before Lin'll be back up to kill as many of them as I can. I go to get back into the fighting and nearly trip on the hem of my dress; without my heels it's too long. Oh, I really don't want to do this... but it's already ruined from all the blood and tears. I cut it from my knee down and rip it, leaving it a rugged line all the way around.
Okay, here we go.
I jump on the back of a Were that was on its way to attack Kate and in one swift move it's dead on the ground below me.
One thing (okay, technically two) that I've learned while fighting these monsters is that: 1: they're incredible stupid, and 2: they're cumbersome. They're huge with ginormous muscles- but relatively slow (at least for my speed). It's like all of their brain cells were somehow absorbed into their muscles.
Luckily, this makes them really easy to kill. By me at least. It's beyond easy for me to wipe out a ton of them in a short amount of time.
In the five minutes it takes for Lin to come back, I've already wiped out way more than half of them. There were about forty (maybe fifty?) and now there's only about fifteen left. I hear the door open and turn just as he walks out, laughing at the stunned look on his face. What was he expecting, for them to be winning? I know that's totally wrong but really, they're up against us, it's not like they really stood a chance.
