Chapter 35
Four months later
Isadora
"Rob, tell your mom I'll be sure to call more often and remember that if she ever kicks you out because you're an idiot, you can always stay in the Complex. Kate... I can't believe you're staying. I know you have a really good reason but I'm still going to miss you." I can feel tears starting to come and I blink them away, hugging everyone around me.
We've decided to move back to Scotland, we've all been missing the quiet, surprisingly, but Kate is going to stay living in the Complex so she can keep seeing Ra (he's got a steady job and everything, so it wouldn't be fair to ask him to move with us or for them to try a long-distance relationship. Dimca and Jan, everyone at the Complex, even Rob, have all agreed to keep an eye on her so I'm not worried (not that I would be, she can take care of herself).
I've left Paul with enough blood to experiment on for at least a year or so (three whole industrial freezers full'll probably last that long but you never know). I told him that if he runs out to just call Lin and we'll come for a visit.
We've all talked about it and we plan to find a nice big plot of land in the middle of nowhere (preferably not too far away from Vlain) and build some houses for us all. As it turns out Lin's been interested in trying to garden, so not he'll have a chance to. We'll be able to hunt whenever we want without worrying about being discovered and, when we do decide to have kids, we'll have an actual house to call home.
But that won't be for a while, though.
After we all say our goodbyes (even Paul's here to see us off. Ra's here too, of course, he goes wherever Kate does when he's off work), we all board the jet and set off back to Scotland.
