-Yamazaki P.O.V.      

            “Yamazaki!”

            I blinked and shook my head, sighing. “My apologies, sir.”

            “Did something happen while you were out gathering intel?”

            “…” I did not know if I should speak of it or not. In the end, it was good news for the Shinsengumi. However, I was not sure that the demon of the Shinsengumi would appreciate how I had gotten distracted on my way back. After all, it was currently night. I had taken too long to return. Weighing the pros and the cons, I decided I shouldn’t tell him. Might cause troubles for me, or for her. “No, sir. I got into a quarrel with some ronin, but I was able to mend my wounds.”

            “You were injured?”

            “Barely,” I sighed, looking down at my leg nonchalantly. That woman had bandaged my leg before she disappeared into the night. I remembered it clearly.

            Too clearly.

            “Go rest, then. I’ll have another assignment for you tomorrow morning.”

            “Understood,” I nodded, and they all turned and stepped outside. The night was clear and, indeed, the moon was half lit.

            Just like the night I first met her.

-Ayamei P.O.V.

            “Amagiri.” I spoke sternly, eyes dim and looking towards the forest floor.

            “Ah, Ayamei. I was wondering when I might get to see you again.” He had halted before he turned and angled his head upwards, eyes locking on to me. He smiled, and the tenseness between us vanished. “I do hope you are well.”

            “I’m doing pretty well for being out and about on my own. And yourself, Amagiri?” I laughed a bit, smiling down at him.

            “I am quite well. Though, you mentioned you are alone. What of Ryuu and Shiori?”

            “They’re back at the manor. Someone needs to watch over it, no?”

            “I almost forgot about that duty. Of course. In any event, if you need anything I will not hesitate to aid you.”
