-Normal P.O.V.

Ow, I mentally hissed and slowly came to my senses. I had been sleeping quite deeply but several pains shot through my body in different spots. It was almost as if my legs and arms were getting grabbed and scratched to pieces by little tiny daggers. Having had enough of the pain, I tore my eyes open.

            Just in time, actually.

My eyes widened and I lifted my sheathed weapon to swat away the creature that leapt at me. A decent-sized wolf, fangs coated with a sheer layer of my blood. I quickly stood, noticing all the bite marks on my body. The wolf leapt at me again and, this time with more force, I swung my sheathed blade to swat it away. “Shoo!”

There had to have at least five of them. I wouldn’t have had a problem dealing with them but they just kept jumping at me over and over again. It got annoying, quick. I returned my sheathe to my hip, strapping it there quickly, and then unsheathing my katana and pointing it towards one of them.

            Thunk!

I blinked; the one closest to me, about to lunge forward, was now laying on the ground whimpering in pain with a shuriken between its eyes. In a few moments it would likely be dead. Two more of the wolves suffered the same fate almost simultaneously. I was more than just a bit confused, but I took their misfortunes to my advantage. I lunged at one of the three remaining canines, snarling, digging my blade into its chest as it jumped at me. I pulled my katana out, pointing it at another wolf. Before I could attack it, another shuriken hit it.

The last wolf simply whimpered and ran away and I saw yet another shuriken fly but it missed, digging in to a small patch of snow left over from the last storm. I looked around, katana still out and ready to strike down the owner of the multiple shuriken if that person had any intention of coming after me.

            “You may stand down.”

The familiar face was a relief. “So it was you. Thanks, then.”

“Not a problem. If anything, it serves as repayment for your help in mending my wounds.”

“Oh, there was no need to repay that. I did it simply to do it. But, thanks nonetheless.” My smile was wide and genuine as I sheathed my blade and chuckled, sitting down against the tree. “Damn. So early. Was planning on getting a decent amount of sleep, but some wolves had to come and ruin that.”

            “…Go back to sleep, then.”

“Eh. Might not be a good idea. Wouldn’t be surprised if that lone wolf came back with backup,” I shrugged.

“Just go to sleep. I’ll make sure no more wolves appear.”

“I can’t; not right now. Too awake.” I smiled slightly. “So, why were you watching me?”
