-Yamazaki P.O.V.

            “Yes, sir. I haven’t seen her in a few nights. She is usually around, but… after that night’s commotion, I have not been able to find her.”

            “And she’s been the one supplying you with the information on the enemies?” Hijikata arched a brow, surprise keen in his voice.

            “Yes, she has. I do not know much about her, I’m afraid.”

            “But we know she’s a demon. And she’s got backbone if she was fighting with Kazama. Either way, I’m not exactly sure we should trust her,” he sighed, glancing out the window.

            “Understood. Should we continue to accept her information?”

            “For now, yeah. We’ll keep proving her information either correct or incorrect. Until we can reach a verdict on whether or not we want to involve her with us, I’ll need you to keep tabs on her. When you can, at least. Between more important missions.”

            “Of course.”

-Ayamei P.O.V.

            “…Ayamei, I get it. I really do. But you can’t hide forever! You can’t just hide away your demon self and pretend it doesn’t exist. Because then…” He was looking up at me originally, but as he spoke he looked away and down at his food. “…Then you’ll forget who you even are.”

            “I am Ayamei Akiyama, daughter of Harato and Ryuka. A demon. I will never forget that, Ryu. Never. Even if I wanted to I couldn’t.” I let out a long sigh, stabbing at my food and shoving a small square of the venison into my mouth.

            “Whatever. I’m just glad you came to visit. How’s the food?” Realizing that I was getting upset, he changed the subject and signaled for Shiori to come out and say hello. “She put her heart and soul into it.”

            “Ah, it’s actually really good. I haven’t eaten such a hearty meal in a while. To think you’d stay here when there are other places you could put your cooking talent to use… Either way, I’m glad you chose to stay here. Pleased to meet you, Shiori.” I beamed at her, eyes kind and gentle. She seemed so small; she shook and her eyes glinted with admiration. Most of the demons who worked as cooks or servants were those that belonged to lesser families. I could only imagine how she felt.
