[12] Unawareness is Bliss - Kol Mikealson

Imagine: spending a lovely evening with a handsome, charing stranger you'd met at the grill after Stefan had cancelled last minute. After finding out he was Klaus's brother, he compelled you to hate your unknown sire, Stefan, but you couldn't remember. You feel so safe when you're with Kol so you let him into your life.

You were sat in the Mystic Grill chatting to Matt as he dries glasses. "Well Stefan cancelled on me because he had some dinner date with Damon and the unbelievably good looking orignal family and he said it would over run" i said as i took a swig of my glass. "i'm sorry, at least he's actually still on good terms with someone in this town" Matt said "Stefan's just confused and upset at the moment, i'm helping him get back to where he was, minus Elena hopefully" i said and Matt chuckled "well that's not very nice" A British stranger said from besides me. "trust me, if you knew her you'd agree" i said and he chuckled. "i'll have a bourbon and whatever she's drinking" The guy said to Matt and he nodded. "so, what's your name?" he asked, sitting on the chair next to me which happened to be Damon's chair but i let it slide. "Y/N, you?" i said. "ah, what a lovely name, the names Kol, pleasure to meet you" he said and kissed my hand. I chuckled at the gesture and went a little flustered. "so why is someone like you sat at the bar by yourself?" he asked "well i was meant to be meeting my friend but he had this emergency dinner he couldn't back out off" i said and he nodded, looking at me intrigued. "shame, i'd hate to be him" he said and i chuckled, taking a sip of my drink. "why's that?" i asked "well to miss out on the chance of having you in my company for a few hours" he said and i smiled at the ground. "well as charming as you are, my life is pretty complicated right now so i don't think this should carry on" i said and went to hop off the stool. "no, i'm sorry, i'm kinda rusty with this whole people thing, i've been away for rather a long time" he said and i nodded. "i think you're doing just fine" i said "what about that lovely blonde over there?" i said and pointed out some random woman. "i'm perfectly fine here" he said looking at me intently. I sighed. Yes it had been a while and yes i really wouldn't have minded...but did i want to drag him into this whirlwind that is my life of supernatural. I listened. I couldn't hear a heartbeat. I smiled and turned to him. "i wondered how long it would take you to notice love" he said and i chuckled. "sorry, first thing i don't normally check when a handsome guy is chatting me up is whether they have a heartbeat" i said and we both chuckled. "now, shall we exchange life stories? isn't that what people seem to do?" he asked and i nodded, chuckling. "yes it is" i said.

we continued to chat for what seemed like the whole evening, but in reality it was only an hour, by which time i was a little drunk. "i'm sorry to end this but i think for a vampire you haven't got much of a tolerance, shall i walk you home?" he said and i agreed and chuckled as he wrapped his arm around my shoulder. "you know, you're pretty attractive" i mumbled as i we walked down the street. "so i've been told" he muttered which caused me to chuckle. "i was only turned a week ago" i said and Kol nodded. "well you're doing very good for a newbie vampire" he said and i chuckled "my friends are great and teaching" i said, Stefan crossing my mind. "well, they must be experts" he said as we walked across the road and to the park. "well ones a control freak and the other is a ripper so i think they both make a good team. That is Stefan's brilliant and self control when he's not ripping people's throats out" i said and Kol nodded. "sounds familiar, ah yes, the ripper of Monterey?" he asked and i chuckled. "that would be the one, Bless Stefan's heart" i said and Kol chuckled. "he's not a bunny Y/N" Kol said and i chuckled "yeah but he is like one in my eyes, i don't know why but ever since i turned, ive felt like i need to protect him and make him happy...don't know why" i said as we sat down on the bench, well i more fell down. "ah...somebody might have a little sore problem" Kol said and i looked at him confused. "but that's just for Hybrids and werewolves?" i asked. "my brothers been making hybrids i see..." he said and i raised an eyebrow before it clicked. "oh..." i gasped, widening my eyes at him. "shh love it's okay i'm not going to hurt you, i'm not like my brother" he said and grabbed my hand and caressed my cheek. "You're an original" i said and he nodded. "that's the name you gave us? sounds like a boy band" he said and i couldn't help but chuckled. "i don't think you're a threat, you're not like your brother" i said and looked up at him, placing my hand on his cheek. He chuckled "that's the nicest thing someone's said to me for hundreds of years" he said and i laughed. "hundreds of years, sounds rough...and boring and lonely" i said and he nodded. "you have no idea" he said and i smiled, leaning up and kissing him. He was surprised, but pleasantly and started kissing back. "for someone whose been daggered, you're not bad" i said and he chuckled. "i can show you more than that" he said with a smirk and i nodded. "now then love, where too?" he asked and i chuckled "i don't know, maybe mine?" i asked as i looked up to meet his eyes. "sounds great Darling" he said and stood up, holding his arm out which i took. We soon arrived back at my house and i opened the front door. "who's the owner?" Kol asked. "me" i said and he smirked as he crossed the threshold. He used his vampire speed to pin me against the wall across the room, covering me in kisses, which i returned.

Despite having an amazing night, i woke up feeling odd, like there was something i should feel guilty about but i couldn't. I woke up with Kol next to me. I smiled and rolled over, facing him. "you're staring" he said and i smiled softly. "it's the view" i said and he chuckled, rolling over on top of me and smirking. "you can't be older than 20?" he asked "i'm 18, last year of high school, which starts at 9 by the way" i said. "good job it's not 9 then?" he said and i chuckled, he leant down and kissed me, softly. I wrapped my arms around him and for the first time i felt safe and loved. "i don't care if your Klaus's brother, i like having you around" i said and he looked at me intrigued "normally everybody else would've ran for the hills" he said "i like a bit of danger" i said and he chuckled.

At 8:55 i rushed through the doors at school, seeing my three best friends in the hallway. "there you are! we were just about to call you" Caroline said and i chuckled. "yeah sorry, my alarm never went off" i said, smiling innocently. "Matt told us that someone was chatting you up at the bar last night" Bonnie said smirking and i chuckled. "we were just chatting that's all" i said and they all exchanged looks. "you guys need to stop" i said and we all laughed. "who's car did you just get out of?" Tyler walked up behind us and kissed Caroline. "i compelled someone to give me a lift?" i said with a shady face. "oh my god!" Elena said and Caroline covered her hands with her mouth "Y/N L/N! you must tell us all" she said and i smiled. "i will, in History!" i said and they all laughed. "anyway! how was the original dinner last night?" i asked Elena "well apparently Elijah and Damon undaggered all of Klaus's siblings so now they're all roaming around Mystic Falls" she said and i nodded smirking. "right" i said and we walked down the corridor slightly. "how's Damon?" i asked her quietly. She'd only told me that she felt for him. "i'm not sure still...i think i like him..." she said "well yeah he's unbelievably hot but...i don't know Lena" i said and she smiled. "at least you're not as harsh as Caroline" she said and i smiled at her. "i am not in a position to judge you about Damon now am i Elena" i said and we both chuckled "oh yeah, that one time after the bonfire when you two slept together" she said and i sighed. "you know if i were you i'd say go for it, whatever makes you happy, and i mean he's not the worst in bed..." i said and we both laughed. The bell rang above us and we made our way to History. "so Y/N, if this isn't your happy attitude due to getting some last night, you must have been compelled" she said and i laughed and smiled at her innocently. "ladies don't discuss this quiet so loud first thing in the morning" Ric said and we both smiled at him. "someone over did it last night, sorry Ric" i said and he showed me and elena to our seats. The rest of the class began to pour in and Elena still kept asking. Stefan came in late and sat down. As soon as i saw him, i felt this rush of guilt and hurt. "so it wasn't Stefan?" Caroline said as she noticed. "of course it wasn't, he's my best friend" i said and they all just nodded. "what?" i asked "nothing, okay if you won't tell us who it was, were they good?" Bonnie asked and we all laughed. "better than good" i said and they all laughed but slightly cringed. "i presume he was a fellow v a m p then?" Elena said and i chuckled "subtle Elena" i said and we chuckled again. Stefan took his seat next in between myself and Elena which was a little awkward. "Y/N, Elena, Bonnie, Caroline, please pay attention" Alaric said without even looking around to see who was talking and we all smiled and got on with our lesson. Stefan was being extra broody today, he just kept tapping his pen on the side of his desk. "stop!" i said and slapped my hand down on the pen and his hand. "Y/N?" Bonnie said in shock at my outburst. "i...sorry Stefan" i said and shrank back in my seat as a few people had turned to look. He looked at me confused and hurt. About 20 seconds later he got up and walked out. "what did you do?" Caroline asked at me. "nothing!" i whisper snapped at her. None of us got up to go after him. He wasn't on any bodies good side at the moment apart from mine...well now for some unknown reason i seem to be channeling my aggression out on him.

The whole day, all i could think about was Kol and when i'd next be seeing him.
