Guardedly, she reached down and grasped the mysterious letter. Susan thought about opening it but decided it was best to wait until she was upstairs; The wooden stairs creaked with every footstep and so did her bedroom door. She threw the letter onto her bed and sat down at her desk. Gently, she grabbed a pen and a piece of writing paper and started to write down everything that had happened that day:
Dear Lucy,
In regards to your last letter, I'm glad to hear you and Edmund are having fun. Would I ever go back? Honestly, I don't know. My hearts in Narnia but my head and my bodies in America. I need to stop thinking about what could have been and what should be. But before I do so, I need to tell you about another strange thing that occurred today. At exactly 12:50 an air raid siren screeched but I was on another planet. I had a flashback to when we last visited Narnia; when we were on the platform all four of us...

She stopped writing and scrunched up the letter. Susan stood up and grabbed the letter from her bed and plodded downstairs. Impatiently, She started unfolding it. At the top was a royal crest followed by:

You have been invited to the engagement ball off:
King Caspian X and Lilliandil the humble daughter of Ramandu.
This Saturday
Every Narnian is welcome.
At Cair Paravel.

She dropped the letter, hesitated and then stumbled into the kitchen towards the sink and with each step, her stomach tightened and ached all the more. She kept swallowing, and her throat kept clenching, but no matter what she could not stop the warm feeling rising through her chest. The taste crawled up the back of her throat. A warm, clouded, cream coloured liquid spilt from her mouth, and sizzled as it splashed into the tin bucket.

Minutes past and after several cups of water, Susan picked up the letter again and ran upstairs. Her heart was heavy. A man she knew a week had broken her heart without realising it. She reread the letter that Lucy sent her 'He misses you, you know. I asked if he had moved on but he said he hadn't met anyone as beautiful as you even after three years.'
Things didn't make sense to Susan. If what Lucy had written was right, then why had he moved on so quick? She knew she couldn't do anything to stop the marriage. Alone. Susan sat at the edge of her bed in silence.

Until; Knock. Knock. The knock came quietly at first and then there was silence. Then again. Slowly, Susan rose from her bed and hesitantly walked down each step until she reached the door. However, no one was there. Then another knock except this one was louder and faster but the door was wide open and Susan couldn't see anyone or anything. She slams the door shut and sits down in the living room. Was she going crazy? Then all of a sudden, the floor shook and the carpet folded neatly into the corner revealing a hidden trap door; a door Susan had never seen before. Intrigued, Susan stood up and slowly lifted the handle, revealing a metal staircase. Without thinking, she started descending. Her heart raced and her mind wondered but she couldn't help but be interested in this unfamiliar scenery.

Drip. Drip. Drip. Susan sighed. It was just a wine cellar.. or so she thought.
