I kept looking between the boy and the girl. No way could these...kids be my siblings. Unless...

"No," I said firmly. "You can't be my siblings. My mother was not pregnant when I was 3. I would have known. When they—" I couldn't continue as tears began to stream down my face.

"Alayah or Leah, we are your siblings whether you like it or not, well half-siblings at least," Henry said.

I was totally flabbergasted. No words came to my mind that I could say to explain what I was thinking. Words were racing all around my brain trying to find the right combination of words to speak but nothing came to the surface.

"Alayah," Padua said in a soft and quiet voice. It was gentle and sweet but by looking at her face I could tell that she was sad at my reaction to the news. "It's true. Please believe us. Mom doesn't even know we are here. We sort of ran away when we heard about you from the meeting the alphas had a while back."

Words flew out of my mouth faster than I could control my tongue. "That woman is not my mother. She may have given birth to me but that doesn't mean she is my mother." I spat out.

Tears were flowing down Padua's face as I spoke. "A mother doesn't leave her child behind! No matter what the circumstance is. Even if they did leave they always come home to her loved ones." I began to shake as memories flowed back into my mind of the day that my parents dropped me off at Aunt Charlotte's house.

Kaden wrapped his arms around me and pulled me into his chest trying to comfort me. "Alayah, calm down it's okay." Kaden's voice filled my head. It was sweet and gentle but also a warning that I was getting out of control.

"No, they need to know the truth," I responded.

"A mother doesn't abandon her child for 13 years and then attempts to kidnap them once they find out the secret that's been kept from them their whole lives!" I fell to the floor on my knees tears streaming down my face.

Kaden was on the floor behind me as I felt his strong arms still around me as I cried. "Shhh." He whispered in my ear in an attempt to calm me down.

"You don't know the pain and heartbreak I've been through my entire life! You can't just waltz in here and expect me to be okay with you in my lives!" I said to them.

I flicked my gaze from my hands to the two of my supposed siblings on the couch. Padua got up and crouched on the ground with me. Her green eyes stared right into my light blue ones. Both of our eyes are glossy as we had both been crying. "Leah, would you like us to explain why yo—our mother never came back after the war?" She asked kindly as she tried to keep herself from crying once more.

I whipped the remaining tears off of my face. "P-please," I stuttered. Gently she took my hands in hers and helped me off the ground. Kaden rose along with me and unwrapped his arms from my body but still stood close protectively.

Henry scooter over on the couch and I sat between Padua and him. "Explain," I said steadily.

Henry started. "It was during the war. It lasted for about 3 years or so. It ended in late 2000. Anyway, while in the war our mother and father were apart a lot. Mom had recently found out she was pregnant with Padua and I the day before the fighting had begun, the day they left you behind. She didn't want to risk us and so the two of them fled and became rouges for a while until mom had us."

I was trying to stay calm as I took in all of the words Henry was saying. My mother was pregnant the day we were supposed to send a special day together. She was going to tell me that day but when everything happened that morning she and my father left for war.
