Elisia stands in the middle of a battleground alone. Her swords in her hand, dead bodies lying all around her in the dirt. These bodies appear to have been dead longer than a simple fight over the last month. These bodies have been dead for years.
She walks across the battlefield with her blue hair pulled back behind her head in a ponytail to keep it out of her eyes.
When passing through the bodies she notices a blue light emitting from the ground. She goes and investigates the light to find a blue fragment under a skeleton in armor. She takes the fragment and continues on through the battlefield.
She returns home to her father sitting in his red leather chair reading through a book. "Find anything interesting, Ellie?" He calls out.
"Yes, actually." She closes the door and walks up to him. He closes the book. "I found this." She opens her palm to reveal the blue fragment shimmering with magic inside of it.
"Where did you get this?" He stands up amazed, but also a bit scared.
"From a dead soldier, must have been dead longer than me." Elisia holds up the fragment and looks at it with delight. "It sure is beautiful."
"That's a star fragment. Knights of Xirilus in the past used those to gain magical powers. They'd place them in their bodies to access the magic."
"Sounds cool. What if I did that?" Elisia pockets the fragment while her father begins to comb through his books before pulling one out and handing it to her. "Read this and tell me if its still what you want."
"Okay?" Elisia takes the book and sits down in a chair by the fire. She reads about the Starbreaker Knights faction that existed in Xirilus before it's destruction.
She reads it over and the more she does, the more interested in the power she becomes. "I wanna do it, father."
"It's a painful process, Ellie. Are you sure?"
"I've never been more sure." As she closes the book.
The days went on as they prepped for the process of embedding the star fragment into Elisia's body. Where to embed it was the real question that Elisia is unsure of.
Then the night came as they were out hunting when a group of Gnolls come up to them with their weapons drawn and charge in for the attack.
The wolf humanoid creatures were caught off guard by Elisia and her father's combat expertise. What was supposed to be a swift kill turned into a battle.
Swords clashing and blood spraying from the Gnolls as they get sliced up from Elisia's twin swords.
The remaining lone Gnoll drops it's sword and looks to Elisia as the real threat and pounces at her. She holds out her swords to defend herself, but it was a suicide leap and the Gnoll knew it. The Gnoll impales itself and with it's last movement, it slashes across the right eye of Elisia. Heavily bleeding it.
"Daaad!" Elisia screams out with the blood pouring down the right side of her face. She drops her swords and the Gnoll falls limp as well.
Her father rushes to her and picks her up and her swords and carries them off to the cabin in the middle of nowhere.
She screams in pain as she tries to fight it, but her vision in the eye is completely shrouded in blood. He lays her down in front of the fireplace and starts the fire. He gets up and grabs a bottle of alcohol from the cabinet.
"Do you have the star fragment on you?" He asks quickly and she pats a pocket while trying to calm down from the pain.
The fire picks up as he grabs a metal rod and sticks into the fire. "This is going to hurt tremendously, Ellie, but the pain will pass."
"Just do it!" She screams while kicking her legs out like she's trying to fend off an attacker. Her body wasn't taking the pain well.
He opens up the Frostbite bottle of alcohol and pours a little into her eye, causing it to burn a lot more and more screaming coming from Elisia who gives the serious deadeye look from her good eye to her father.
He pulls out the metal rod that is lit up a yellow red color and lightly presses it against her eye, causing it to burn, but the bleeding stops and seals the wound and her eye. The slash marks around her eye begin to scar. He then grabs the star fragment.
Elisia screams as the fragment is embedded into her right eye socket and she passes out from the pain.
When she awakens in her bedroom with a headache, she walks over to her mirror and inspects her eye. The slash marks across it, and the star fragment placed where her eye should be.
Elisia clenches her hands into fist and punches her mirror...
"While recovering from that and all the pain it brought me, my father contacted the frostbitten disease."
Melina looks closely at Elisia as a mist around Elisia's head begins to fade away and the eye that was once there turns into the star fragment she speaks of.
"Holy hells that is sad, yet badass." Melina looks at the fragment and then Elisia's normal eye. "It doesn't take from your looks however. Kind of... adds to it."
Elisia gives a half smile. "Thanks, Melina." Elisia returns to fire watching and Melina throws an arm around Elisia to hug her and rest her head againt Elisia's shoulder. "I'll tell a story about me another night."
