Melina steps into Twig's infirmary to find Melissa resting alone on one of the many beds. Dayton stayed behind to let Melina have her moment and to finish his writings.
Melina sits down on a bed across from her mother. Looking at her blood stained blonde hair. The ragged clothes showing from the lack of the bed covers covering her full body. Melina looks at her mother and wanders what she did or said to make this moment happen.
"Hey, mom. I don't know if you can hear me." Melina says with tears building up in her eyes. "But i'm sorry for what I have to do when I get out of this dreamscape. Just seeing you like this makes me remember that you were never always The Dark Queen."
She takes a deep breath and wipes her eyes. "I'm gonna send you home in the afterlife. To be with Carsin and your adopted father, Kaliss again. Grandma Seraphina, too."
Melina stands up from the bed and on her way out she hears Melissa move and faint whisper. "You are beyond perfect..." Melissa catches her hard breathing. Her multiple wounds taking time to heal. Melina turns back to her.
"Give me hells..." Melissa says as she closes her eyes to continue resting. Melina walks out of the room and returns to Dayton who has gone from writing to laying in bed.
Melina looks at him from the doorway and she's tempted to crawl back into that bed and live her life here with him. "He's right there." She says to herself. "But he's not right there." She steps into the room and stops at the end of the bed.
"I'm sorry, Dayton. I love you a lot, but our lives are not meant to connect forever. I hate saying it, but you've been dead for a little over two weeks now and I really do miss you, but I..." Melina blinks her eyes and looks around the room. "I can't live in this false reality."
"False... are you okay? I know you were hit hard and all." Dayton sits up and and reaches out his hands to Melina. She bites down on her lip and keeps her hands at her sides. Many tears coming down her face. "Goodbye, Dayton."
Dayton shakes his head in confusion and then leans in to give her a hug, but Melina Misty Steps away to the door entrance of their shared room. The action of escaping Dayton's embrace sent a heavy weight on Melina's heart.
Dayton's arms pass through the mist and he looks at her with tears of his own. "My life before yours, always." He says. Melina closes her eyes as more tears pour out. She steps into the hallway and the door behind her shuts and fades away into a normal stone wall.
Melina slides her back down against the wall. Burying her head in her arms and knees and crying all the tears that she can.
The shadow figure appears and stands before her. "Saying goodbye to a loved one is never easy. But this time it has unlocked your puzzle and you are free to awaken."
"I... need time to think." She says through her crying. "I'll awaken in time."
The shadow nods and looks at Melina with curiosity. "You must know one thing from me from my time inside your mind." The shadow speaks. "You love a great deal, perhaps a little too easily at times. But it also makes the loss all the more harder. You have always arisen from these sorrows and found ways to cope and be happy. Out there in reality, I hope you find love again. It comes from the strangest of places so don't be afraid to look."
With that said, his form fades and Melina looks up for a second at the stone walls to see the symbol of Mandite along them. Glancing at them for a second before her vision blackens once more, but the feeling of sorrow lingers greatly in her thoughts.
