“Glenn… Glenn… Glenn are you awake?” I asked the Asian next to me. I was still blindfolded, but now my arms are tied to a chair and I can hear bustling all around me.
“Yeah, I am, are you okay Aaron?”
“I’m fine. Do you know where Daryl and Rick are? And T-Dog”
“No, they got away.”
“That’s good,” I mumbled in relief.
In the distance, I could hear people talking in Spanish. I probably should have taken Spanish in high school rather than French. It might have saved my life. The men who were conversing entered the room continuing to speak in Spanish.
“… Get the girl, vámonos darse prisa, you can untie the Asian boy, let ‘em walk around with the seniors.”
I felt someone untying me, and place tape around my mouth. They removed the blindfold, but placed something over my head. I could see the light around me, but I couldn’t make out any figures. The man tied my hands behind my back.
“Walk.”
“DON’T HURT HER!” Glenn yelled.
I was led somewhere and I could hear people below talking. There was a whistle and I was pushed forward, the sack over my head was removed and I peered down the edge of the rooftop, panicking slightly. Rick, Daryl, and the Hispanic kid were below with some of the other “Vatos” as the called themselves.
“Aaron!” Daryl yelled to me.
I screamed against the tape to let him know I was okay, but I wasn’t sure for how long. The guys took me back into the building and untied me. I took the tape off my mouth and looked around.
“Look, we’re not going to hurt you. G is just trying to make a deal with your friends,” One of them said to me.
“Okay,” I said quietly.
“There’s an open space down the hall. Do you need any water or anything to eat?”
“No, thank you though.”
I walked down to the room to see Glenn talking to some of the elderly. Glenn looked up to see me and he ran over to me pulling me into a tight hug. I hugged him back.
“I didn’t know what they would do to you. I’m so glad you’re okay Aaron,” He choked.
“It’s okay Glenn, I’m here. I’m safe.”
I heard barking in the corner of the room and saw a small black dog come running up to me.
“Hi!” I squealed in a high-pitched voice as I kneeled down. I rubbed the dog’s head and it barked again.
