taru traced ella's phone to an abandoned warehouse in queens but when we had gotten there, any trace of her was gone.
"search every inch of this place for evidence! i don't care if it's a speck of dust." liv yells as everyone fans out.
"her phone is still pinging somewhere inside here." christian says.
i nod. "i'm gonna go check outside."
i took myself out of the warehouse, running a hand through my hair.
originially, i had went out for fresh air but then my eyes caught something shining on the ground. i walked over to see what it was.
it was a silver cross that i instantly recognized. it was sitting behind a parked car as i picked it up.
as my thumb grazed the engraving on the back of it, i knew for sure; she had left us evidence.
"good move el." i said to myself before i got on the radio.
"i got something. east corner of the house, outside."
within a few moments, our squad and her brothers came rushing over.
"she was here." i say as i show the necklace. "if i had to guess, he took her in this car."

after we left queens, we headed back to the squad room. i held onto her necklace as i sat at my desk.
evidence was still coming in into the early morning.
"you got a good eye detective." christian says, as he takes a seat next to my desk.
"thanks." i reply. "is there anything else you can tell me that may help?"
"benjamin is slick, but he slipped up when he messed with her again." he replies.
an email popped in my computer as i looked. "holy shit."
"what? what is it?"
"i know where he's been for the past seven years." i say as i show christian the computer. "away with the army. he's been stationed in europe, africa, and japan."
"how did he not pop up in any database?" christian says.
"no idea." i look deeper into his file. "there's not a single medical report about him."
