a couple of weeks later, everything had been going extremely well with sonny and i.
actually, we couldn't have been happier.
we were keeping our relationship on the down low. it was clearly serious for the both of us, but i really wanted to keep it between us for as long as possible before everyone else got involved.
we were back in the squad room working a case when iab walked in.
and by iab, i mean tucker, my father's former partner back in the day before tucker went to iab. even before my dad passed, they were still close friends.
"lieutenant, may i speak to you for a moment?"
we all look at one another as she nods, escorting him to her office.
"what's that about?" dodds asks as we all shurg.
"not a clue." finn replies as we all return to our desks to continue working.
before i could sit down, i got called into liv's office.
shit. did they find out already?
i look over at sonny, who shares a slightly worried expression before i make my way into office.
"detective russo, thank you for joining us."
"of course. what is this about?"
"i'm afraid the ex has come back to haunt us."
i look at liv after tucker's response.
"i'm afraid i don't understand."
"detective, it is my understanding that you have a rifle from your time in the military. is that right?"
"yes. i disclosed that information to nypd when i signed up."
"that you did. you did all the right steps, including informing us about the military weapon you possess." he replies. "at any point before you got kidnapped, did you take out your rifle? even to clean it?"
i shook my head. "no, not at all."
"was it secure?"
"yes. in a safe in my closet, covered by a heavy blanket." i reply. "what's going on?"
"it appears that before you were kidnapped, your ex-boyfriend, now deceased, took your rifle."
