You and your group of friends entered the great hall for dinner. A few had been turning to glance at Harry while they whispered about the shouting match he and Professor Umbridge had. You took a seat and looked over at Jasmine who had stopped and whispered something to the golden trio before walking to the Slytherin table. "What did you tell them?" Lilly looked over at Jasmine who simply smiled and shrugged before filling her plate up and beginning to eat. Not long after Harry, Ron and Hermione had had enough of the constant whispers and left the great hall, the rest of dinner went off without anything interesting happening. After finishing you headed back into the Slytherin common room where you sat and easily completed the homework you had before turning in for the night. The next morning you woke up when Lilly cast aguamenti on you. Groaning you got up now completely soaked. "Morning." Lilly gave a mischievous smile which you easily returned. "You know I can give you detention, right, Lilly?" The silver haired girl seemed to go even paler as she glanced at the prefect badge. "You wouldn't." You only smiled as you quickly changed into your robes and followed everyone down to the Great Hall for breakfast.
After breakfast you had double charms which was boringly easy especially since the first fifteen minutes were taken up with Professor Flitwick talking about the O.W.L.s. After Professor Flitwick had finished his speech the class reviewed summoning charms which were meant to be in the O.W.L., the lesson ended with Professor Flitwick assigning the class homework. Double Transfiguration was straight after double charms which like the class they had just come from had a fifteen minute speech about the O.W.L.s from Professor McGonagall. "You cannot pass an O.W.L. without serious application, practice and study. I see no reason why everyone in this class should not achieve and O.W.L. in Transfiguration as long as they put in the work." From where you were sitting you could hear Neville make some kind of sad little noise. "Yes, you too, Longbottom. There's nothing wrong with your work except lack of confidence. So, today we are starting vanishing spells. These are easier than conjuring spells, which you would not usually attempt until N.E.W.T. level, but they are still among the most difficult magic you will be tested on in your O.W.L.." The rest of the lesson was meant to be spent on making a snail vanish, however you had completed this task on the second attempt, which gained your house ten points, the rest of the lesson you attempted to help Lilly.
At the end of the lesson everyone except Hermione and yourself were given homework for Transfiguration. During lunch you headed into the library, sitting down you completed the last bit of homework you had been given before noticing that Harry and Ron were struggling to figure out what they needed for their Potions homework. With a small roll of your eyes you walked over to the pair and placed down the book you had in front of them. "Read here, here and here. Should tell you about moonstones." Gathering up the rest of your things you left the library where a surprised Harry and Ron remained. You left the castle and headed down towards Hagrid's hut in order to be there before the bell went. Down in front of the hut you looked at the pile of twigs in front of Professor Grubbly-Plank. "Those are Bowtruckles, aren't they Professor? Um, tree-guardians who usually inhabit wand-trees?" The old woman nodded and smiled at you before the rest of the class began to arrive. "Good, Miss Riddle. Five points for Slytherin." You smiled as you looked at the twigs.
"Everyone here?" Professor Grubbly-Plank barked at the group of students. Crossing your arms you ignored Parvati and Lavender as they let out a loud 'Ooooooh!'. "Kindly keep your voices down, girls!" The Professor said sharply as she scattered what looked like brown rice among the stick creatures, looking closely you noticed that the brown rice was actually wood lice. "So. Anyone, besides Miss Riddle, know the names of these creatures? Miss Granger?" It didn't surprise you that Hermione was the only one with her hand up. "Bowtruckles. They're tree-guardians, usually live in wand-trees." You felt an arm wrap around you and looked up at Draco you had seen previously imitated Hermione. "Five points for Gryffindor. Yes, these are Bowtruckles and, as Miss Granger rightly says, they generally live in trees whose wood is of wand-quality. Anybody know what they eat?" You quickly answered Professor Grubbly-Plank with, "Wood lice, but they are known to eat Fairy eggs if they are able to get to them." You looked back at the little wood lice scattered throughout the twigs.
