The Sister Locket
“Steph, come on honey. You’ll be late for the party,” dad shouted.
“Coming” I yelled.
“Stephanie, you look gorgeous”
“Eww, dad. You’re not my boyfriend.” I laughed.
“Speaking of which, are you still with Jacob?” He asked while taking the keys out of the drawer.
“Ahh, no I’m with Quinn. Left Jacob two day’s ago. Keep up dad!” I laughed.
“Goodness, my very own sixteen year old Taylor Swift.” He crossed his arms playfully. Then gestured me to the car.
“At least I don’t sound like a goat.” I say as I fastened my half heart shaped locket around my neck. Dad stared at it, as usual.
“Still wearing that old thing?” He asked with a nervous laugh.
I stared back at him, he was always so despondent when he talked about the locket. My mum gave one to me and my sister. I kept a photo of my mum and my twin sister inside it. They both died in a plane crash, the investigators of the crash said it was due to a terrorist bomb on board. I was six when it happened.
I got into the car, for some reason Tiffanie (my deceased sister) kept coming into my mind, but I pushed the thought to the back of my mind.
“See you later dad.” I kissed him on the cheek and got out of the car.
“Bye sweetheart, so I’ll pick you up at seven?” He joked through the window.
“Ha, wouldn’t you like that. Twelve okay?”
He nodded and drove off.
“STTEEPPHHH!”
I turned to see Cassie and Lena both hurdling towards me, they seemed....drunk.
“Woah guys,” I took the drinks out of their hands. “Let’s stick to plain water, shall we?”
They both groaned at me and tried to grab the bottles out of my hands, but luckily they were too tipsy to even walk.
“Arghhh, my head hurts,” Cassie complained.
“Let’s get you two inside.”
We shoved and pushed our way through the crowd, the music was deafening.
“ROB!” I yelled.
“HEY STEPH, FINALLY MADE IT!” He shouted while holding up a beer.
“I need a favor, a quiet room. These two have gone a little overboard.” I pointed at Cassie and Lena who, were both trying to dance with some guy who clearly was not interested.
“Sure,” he helped us navigate through the crowd to a little lounge.
“Have fun you guys.” He danced off, like an idiot.
“All right you too, time for me to be the responsible one today,” I explained while gesturing them to sit down.
“Okay Miss Richie.” They both sat down and started talking about the latest gossip, I was about to join in when I realised someone had been staring at me. It was a girl, roughly my age. She was alone and had been doing nothing but stare at me for the past ten minutes.
“Um, are you alright there?” I asked uncomfortably.
“Did you just say that your last name was Richie?” The girl asked curiously.
“Umm, yeah.”
She sat back and flattened her dress.
“Is your name, by any chance Stephanie?”
How did she know my name?
“Yeaahh. Okay to be honest your starting to freak me out!” I said tensely.
She took a good look at me then stopped, her eye’s widened. She speed walked next to me and pointed to my locket. Then took out a necklace she had been hiding under the collar of her dress.
It was exactly like mine, expect the other half!
“What? Wait, Tiffanie?” I baffled.
She took out a photo from her locket, it was of me and dad!
“Hello Stephanie.” She smiled with tears in her eyes which were making her eyeliner bleed.
I laughed.
“Hey Tiffanie, long time no see.”
I pulled her into a hug. My sister was alive! I started to tear up as well, damn sisterly resemblances.
“Mum..”
“Is going to be as emotional as we are!” She continued while crying and laughing.
“What are we going to tell dad?” I asked stupidly.
“That we are alive, mum and I are ALIVE!” Tiffanie beamed.
I pulled her in for another body squeezing hug, at last my family is back together!
