You're My Star (Black Star X Maka)

I followed Layn and Novo around for a while and they stopped at the public library. Nothing suspicious so far.. I wonder what they're doing here..

Layn spoke to Novo-chan for a second and went inside while Novo-chan sat on a bench next to the library. I approached her and she flinched at the sight of me. I pretended. "Oh, hi, Novo-chan! What're you doing around these parts of Death City?" She nervously gestured to the library and I tilted my head a bit. I feel a bit bad for prying into other people's business.

"The library?" She nodded and pointed at me. "What? What am I doing? Is that what you're trying to say?" She nod and I smiled. "I come to the library all the time! I really love books!" She smiled and I was certain I saw a bead of sweat run down her forehead. She's worried. Nervous, even. "So where's your meister, Layn-chan?" I'm only calling her Layn-chan so Novo-chan believes that I think she's nice... Wow, I'm terrible.

She looked like she was about to gesture to the building, but then shrugged. Sneaky... "Well, I'd better head back to Soul. Meister duties call, right?" I skipped off but actually came into the library from the back. I used Soul Perception to locate Layn on the third floor. She was alone there. I went up and found her in the category, "Death City History". 

I hid at a corner and tried to look at the book she was reading. It was a book about the all the witches that Lord Death has encountered. She flipped through the pages and blinked. Pretending time agan! I passed through the aisle and turned to Layn. "Oh, hi, Layn-chan! Rare to see your around here!" I said cheerfully.

She slammed the book shut and put it back in the shelf. Then she put on a smile. "Oh? I come here quite often to do some research. Novo and I are new at Death City after all." Is that it? Just research? Either way, I have to make sure. There's something different about her soul."

"Novo-chan is outside, you know?" "She is?! Oh my, she must be looking for me. Til next time, Maka-chan!" She left and once she left the building, I took the book she put back. There was a bookmark on a certain page. Before checking the page, I looked at the bookmark. There was a message on it... Hand written...

Maka-chan, it's not nice to eavesdrop on people. Please learn some manners, would you? Oh... And I would watch out for Black Star if I were you. Especially today.

So she knew... I looked at the chapter it was marked on and dropped the book. I get her message! I need to find Black Star! What does Layn have anything to do with Aquaila? And the words that were highlighted in the chapter... Madness. Kishin. Mind Control. Hypnotize... And the one that bothered me most that was found under Aquaila's Chapter... "Witch Aquaila is known to have a close relation to the previous leader of the Star Clan, White Star."

I ran outside the library and tried to locate Black Star. No... No! This can't be! He's at the place where I should be meeting Aquaila everytime I want to fight her. And he's not alone. The souls I'm sensing... His soul, another powerful one which I claim is Aquaila with Soul Protect, a weapon's soul which is hopefully Tsubaki... And a Kishin. 

What's Aquaila planning? Why me? I rushed to the area and slowed down near there to catch my breath. Once I was there, I recognized the people one by one. Black Star, Aquaila and her weapon... And... what is that? I ran to Black Star's side and he was staring forward, eyes furious, fists clenched... And... he's shaking.

"Black Star...?" His soul's pressure... What is this? Is Black Star... scared? Scared of what? That thing with Aquaila? "Maka." Black Star's voice pulled me out of my trance and I turned to him. "Maka, I want you to... to..." I awaited his answer. To what? "T-To run... Get Lord Death..." Did Black Star just stutter? This isn't my Black Star at all!
