*Maka's POV*

My lower lip quivered and I took a shakey breath, trying to calm myself down. Only to no avail. Kid came a while after Black Star turned into a Kishin. Whether I liked it or not, Black Star battled with me. But he retreated with Aquaila and White Star after given the order to.

I was still soaking wet and cold. When Kid arrived, he offered me his striped jacket. He brought me over to the Gallows Mason and took care of me there for now. That's where I still am at the moment. I finished telliing everything to Kid and he nodded slowly, taking it all in.

"I'm not completely sure if there's a way to reverse a Kishin change. But I promise I'll try my best to bring Black Star back to you. He may be stupid, but he's still a friend." I rubbed my arms to keep warm but kept my gaze to the floor. Black Star... "Thank you anyways, Kid.."

He gave me his signature smirk that was absolutely heart melting. "Thank me when we get Black Star back." I nodded and breathed on my hands lightly. I heard Kid sigh and get up but I still didn't look at him. My eyes widened when I felt strong arms wrap around me. "K-Kid...?"

"Maka, I know you already miss him. But we're doing everything we can right now. Please be more patient, alright? I made you a promise just now. I'll get him back." I clenched my fist then hugged Kid back, crying into his shoulder. "Even if you get him back... What then? He's a Kishin now!" Kid shook his head and held me close protectively.

"I will ask for father's assistance from that point on. If he can't do anything, we have no choice but to get Aquaila to reverse her madness spell somehow. If we can't negotiate with her, we'll find a different and stronger witch to do so. Everything is all planned out, Maka. There's no reason for you to worry, okay?"

So there's still a spark of hope left for Black Star... I nodded and pulled away. The door slammed open and Soul rushed to my side. "I heard the story! You aren't hurt, are you?" I shook my head and cracked a small smile. "I'm okay... Thanks for worrying, though..."

My partner let out a sigh of relief and hugged me. "I'm just glad you're okay," he said softly. I hugged him back, assuring my safely and got up. I returned Kid's jacket to him and bowed politely. "Thank you again, Kid. Keep your promise, okay? If you don't, I'll cry again." He smirked and slung his jacket over his shoulder. "Of course. We wouldn't want you to cry now."

With a small wave, I left with Soul who had brought an umbrella with him. For some reason, the sky was still black and the rain never stopped. It didn't even lighten at all. It was coming down like a flood and nothing could stop it. I took a shower as soon as I arrived home and put on a sweater and simple black shorts.

Noticing a small design on my shorts, I let out a soft, shakey sigh. There was a printed blue star on the right bottom part. I slapped my cheeks and went out for some dinner. Soul was looking at his phone while the food sizzled on the pan in front of him. "Looks like we aren't gonna have school tomorrow. Too much rain," he said as he showed me his phone.

It was a text from Professor Stein saying that the rain is too heavy. No school tomorrow. I nodded and gave him his phone back. He continued cooking and I sat on the couch, watching tv. I noticed my photo album on the coffee table and sighed, picking it up. Each picture started from my very first day in Shibusen.

The first page was just me and Black Star when we were younger. It was mostly the two of us around the first pages. Soon, Soul and Tsubaki joined us. Then Kid and the twins. Then Crona. I smiled. Black Star and I really made our team bigger. It was literally me and him against the world back then.

I noticed something else in the picture. When it was just the two of us, he'd always be standing next to me. When Soul and Tsubaki came in, we would only be next to each other seldomly. And when the group was complete, we were totally far apart. I don't blame everyone else for separating us. I blame myself and Black Star.... for letting this happen to us.

My phone rang and I pulled it out. It was a text from Kid.

Good news, Maka. Father located Witch Aquaila's base. We had a spy to go over and he was able to locate a Kishin soul there as well as a half Kishin soul. Another way to put it is... we found him.

After reading the text twice and pinching myself to make sure I wasn't dreaming, my eyes welled up with unshed tears. I shakily texted back in a bit of a hurry and held my phone to my chest.

Thank you so much, Kid. I don't know how I can repay you. Thank you, thank you, thank you..! I love you. Let me make it up to you soon, okay? Thank you!

Soul called me over to eat and I sat at the table, smiling. I felt odd in my stomach, but I shook it off. I knew I could trust Kid... I just knew it. "Maka? You're starting to get pretty uncool with that weird smile plastered all over your face," Soul said just before putting his spoon into his mouth.

I blinked and showed him my phone with Kid and my texts. He made a positive reaction to the fact that they found Black Star then snickered. "You told Kid you loved him." I jutted my bottom lip out. "What's the problem? I do love him."

He shook his head and stood up, "He might think about it as the love-love kind. You do the dishes today, alright?" I nodded and looked at my phone and at my words. I love you... I shrugged and finished my food, bringing the plates to the sink.
