Chapter 16 Meeting the Sobakus

By the time they were done visiting they realized it was too late to go and see the leader of the village so they just crashed at their old place.  When they got there they saw that it was just as they had left it.  So they got busy making it their own again.  Soon everything was set up and dinner was underway.  

They heard a knock at the door.  It was Satoshi.  "I heard you were back and decided to come and see you.  I hope that is alright."  He told her.  She just giggled and hugged him.  "I was wondering when I'd see my cloud watching bird boy again."  He sighed at the nickname.  "Are you ever going to stop calling me that?"  "Nope."  She said as she let go of him and let him in.  "We are just about to have dinner.  Do you want to join us?"  He shrugged and sat down.  Graywolf took that as a yes and served dinner to all of them.  

After dinner Satoshi decided that he was going to sleep over with them and he ended up sharing a room with Graywolf since the others were not ready yet.  He climed into the bed and wrapped his arms around her pulling her close to his chest.  She felt odd sleeping beside someone other then the boys and Komodo but she loved the feeling of being near her friend again.  So she chose to ignore the uneasy feeling.  

The next morning she woke up in Satoshi's arms and just watched as he slept beside her.  "Morning."  Came his sleepy voice.  "Morning."  Soon after they heard the others making a comotion downstairs and they walked down to see Hikashi scolding Takeshi..... again.  "What is going on?"  Graywolf said grabbing everyone's attention.  "Takeshi decided it was a good idea to scare the elders in the village again and they brought him back so now he is in trouble."  Takuke said to her coldly.  

"It is too early in the morning for me to deal with your attitude Takuke.  And Takeshi, we have only been back for a day.  Behave yourself or deal with me."  She growled at both boys.  They both looked at her in shock that she was speaking to them like this.  They really annoyed her bad this time.  "Sorry sissy.  It was fun though."  Takeshi said with a goofy grin on his face.  

She rolled her eyes at them and told them all to get presentable because they were going to see Lady Nadina today.  They all did as commanded and were down in a flash.  "You okay?"  Takuke said as they walked with Satoshi to her office.  Graywolf looked over to see he was looking dead ahead.  "Yeah, I'm fine."  She told him coldly.  She was really getting tired of this side of Takuke.  He noticed this and put his arm around her shoulder pulling her closer as they walked.  

Soon they arrived at their destination and were ready to face the woman they called their Grandmother.  Satoshi left saying he needed to go and see his mother so they walked to the door just the 9 of them.  Graywolf knocked on the door.  "Come in."  Came the annoyed voice of Nadina.  They walked in and immidiatly understood why she was upset.  There sat all the other leaders of the villages and of the clans in this village.  

"Oh good.  My Grandchildren have arrived.  I was expecting you yesterday children."  "We got destracted by Graywolf needing to see Ryuu."  Haruka teased.  Graywolf shot her a playful glare earning herself a chuckle from the wolves in the room.  "What are the mutts doing here?"  An older man said distastfully.  Graywolf shot him a true glare and he felt uneasy as all the others growled at him.  "Don't ever call them mutts."  Graywolf growled out.  "They are bondeds not mutts."

The others looked to Nadina in consern.  "They are very special to my grandchildren.  The Black one is Jamie, He is Graywolf's bonded.  The Rusted one is Jezabel, she is Haruka's.  The young one is Takashi's.  His name is Jasper.  And that one there that looks like his sister is Hothead,  He is Takuke's.  Hikashi, where is your bonded?"  "She is making her rounds around the village."  "Ah.  Her name is Kara.  Kara is a blond wolf and she is very protective over her siblings."  

The leaders all looked at one another.  "Do you believe these children can pass the test?"  Satoshi's father spoke up.  "What test?"  Graywolf piped up before Nadina could awnser.  "I was speaking to Lady Nadina.  Perhaps you should spend some time working on your manners."  "Uh Ryo, I would not mess with her today.  My brothers have upset her a great deal already this morning."  Hikashi said looking worried.  "Relax brother.  Ryo, you are Satoshi's father yes?"  The man nodded his head.  "Yes the resemblance is unquestionable.  Though I must say that I like your son alot more then I do you."  He looked offended.  

"Now listen closly.  I have delt with enough of adults telling me what to do.  I have lived my life with wolves and now I have lived my life with ninjas.  I believe I am prepared to deal with someone as arrogant as you are.  If you wish to tell someone to have manners then perhaps you should go and find some first."  Again the wolves chuckled.  

The man then shut his mouth as Graywolf asked again.  "I will ask once more, what damn test?"  "It is a test to see if you are ready to become full fledged ninja's my dear.  Every ninja, once they reach the age of 13 or higher is required to take the test to be considered a full fledged ninja one of a ranking that noone can take from you."  Nadina awnsered.  "You will be taking that test and then these people will get off my back for good.  Also you will be keeping watch over our guests while they are here.  children meet the sobakus.  This young man is the Kage for his village.  He also happens to be the youngest of his siblings much like you Graywolf.  This is his older sister Terra, and this here is Konkron."  

"I remember them.  Chorro had his sister back off me when I brought the kids to you.  How ya'll been?"  "We have been just fine.  Look Graywolf.  I wanted to apologize for the way I acted all those years ago.  It wasn't right of me to do that to you.  I hope you can forgive me and we can start over."  Graywolf looked at he girl and smiled.  "That's all I wanted to hear.  You got it Terra."  Terra smiled at the young girl and they left back to their home to get the Sobakus settled in.
