There are 14consonants and 10vowels.

ㅏ,ㅗ are called bright vowels and ㅙ, ㅘ,ㅐ,ㅒ are derived from bright vowels.
ㅓ,ㅜ are called dark vowels and ㅝ,ㅞ,ㅖ are derived from dark vowels.
ㅡ,ㅣare neutral vowels.
