"Why are you sitting here?" Marlene glared at Sirius, who had sprinted into the classroom and taken Lily's normal seat beside her in Transfiguration class.

Transfiguration had turned into Marlene's favourite subject, and she didn't really want her favourite lesson to be disrupted by Sirius Black.

"Now, now, Marlene-Marlene McKinnon," Sirius tutted, "we should be more friendly towards eachother."

"Why?" Marlene asked. In the few weeks since they had started school, Sirius and Marlene had developed a feud above even the one that James and Sirius held against Severus.

"Well, we're in the same house-"

"What do you want?" Marlene demanded.

"Cover for me?" Sirius grinned. At that very moment Argus Filtch, the caretaker hurried into the room, wheezing and breathing heavily.

"You!" The caretaker pointed at Sirius, who grinned back innocently. "You were just-"

"Um, Mr Filtch, Sirius has been here for the past ten minutes," Marlene told the caretaker, she didn't know exactly why she was covering for the boy, but she did.

"Oh," the caretaker looked from Marlene to Sirius, narrowing his eyes. He backed out of the room, not taking his eyes off of Sirius.

"Thankyou very much Marlene-Marlene McKinnon," Sirius grinned.

"Will you stop calling me that!" Marlene exclaimed, slight irritated with the boy, "why don't you go and sit next to Potter?"

"I can't," Sirius grinned and gestured over at where a disgruntled Lily was glaring at Sirius as she had been left with no other option but to sit with James.

"Lily will happily swap with you." Marlene pointed out, "just ask, and I'm sure that she'll let you sit with James."

"I'm comfortable here," said Sirius as Professor McGonagall entered the classroom.

"Your friends is beyond annoying," Marlene complained to Remus at lunch that day.

It had surprised Marlene greatly when the quiet and shy boy that she had met on the train, had begun hanging out with Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee.

"They're bearable," Remus laughed. He had large bags under his eyes and was wearing a new bandage on his arm.

"How did you do that?" Marlene asked, gesturing at the bandage on her friend's arm.

"I tripped," Remus said.

Marlene didn't believe him for a second, but she didn't press him for an answer. If he wanted to lie then he would, but eventually he would tell the truth, and Marlene would be there to listen.

"I really wish that I could join the Quidditch team this year!" Marlene exclaimed as she and Lily searched for seats in the stands. Marlene was thankful that Severus hadn't joined them, most of the time that she spent with Lily, Severus was there skulking around, but thankfully he wasn't a fan of Quidditch.

"What's this about joining the Quidditch team?" James Potter had appeared at her shoulder.

"What do you want?" Marlene asked.

"I just came to watch a game of Quidditch with my good friends Sirius and Peter here, there's no need to be so hostile." James said.

"Well me and Lily are sitting here," Marlene gestured to two seats, "I suggest you three find other seats, perhaps on the train tracks of the Hogwarts Express."

"So violent!" Sirius murmured to James as he, Peter and James continued on through the stands, "I love it!"
