"YOU KISSED HIM!" Lily yelled.
Marlene had waited until their last exam was out of the way before telling Lily the news.
She didn't want Lily to die of shock right before one of her exams.
"Yes I kissed him, now keep your voice down!" Marlene laughed as she glanced around the incredibly loud common room. Everyone was celebrating the end of exams (very loudly).
"But you kissed him? You kissed Sirius Black?" Lily asked, in a quieter voice this time.
"Well, technically he kissed me, but I guess I kissed back-"
Lily placed her hands over her ears, "I don't want to hear it! I can't believe that you would stoop so low Marls. I mean, they're arrogant, they're conceited, they're-"
"-alright once you get to know them," Marlene insisted, "sure James is an arrogant prat, and Sirius takes it a bit far sometimes, but they mean well."
Lily shook her head in a defeated manor, sighing loudly. "Well, I suppose you've got to make your own mistakes."
"Too right," Marlene said absent mindedly. She was grinning across the common room in the direction of Sirius, who was on of the main causes of the post exam celebration racket.

Although Marlene and Sirius never officially declared themselves boyfriend and girlfriend, the news spread around the school like wildfire.
"Honestly," Marlene laughed after a sixth year had asked her if it were true that Sirius was the best kisser in the school, "why don't they just try it out themselves."
"Well that would make you a bit jealous wouldn't it?" Sirius said. His head was resting comfortably in her lap as she played with his hair.
"True," laughed Marlene. "You know Sirius. You really should get a haircut."
"I'm growing it long!" Sirius declared, "I think it gives me a ruggedly handsome look."
"You two are disgusting," James flopped down in the armchair opposite the sofa that Marlene and Sirius occupied.
"It's not like we're snogging in the middle of the common room!" Sirius propped himself up on his elbows, so that he could see James.
"Although we did do that yesterday," pointed out Marlene.
"Point taken," Sirius nodded, "it's not like we're snogging in the middle of the common room, at the moment," he ammended.
James frowned, which caused Marlene and Sirius to laugh.
"You know, I think I preferred it when you hated eachother," said James.
"Don't worry Prongs, Lily will see the best in you eventually," Sirius assured him.
"Try deflating your head a bit," suggested Marlene, "that will warm, her up to you."
"I'm not giving up!" James pulled out his snitch and began to play with it, letting it fly away and then heroically catching the small ball, "I swear that I will get her to like me!"
"That's right, a can do attitude can get you anywhere!" Marlene grinned at him.
