"I'll put good money on those two getting together by the end of this year," said Sirius, gesturing towards where James stood on the Platform, gazing longingly after Lily's retreating figure.
"I am not taking that bet, I have decided that I will no longer bet against you," Marlene shook her head, "taking a bet against you was what got me here in the first place."
"You don't regret it though, do you," Sirius grinned at her.
"No, if course I don't," Marlene grinned back and pecked Sirius on the lips.
"Now, now," they broke apart to see Remus standing there grinning at them, "I think we should keep those activities private."
"Right you are Moony," said Sirius, he glanced up and down the Platform, nevertheless, he flung his arm around Marlene's shoulder.
"We should get on the train," said Marlene, grabbing her trunk, and leading the way onto the Hogwarts Express, having already bade het parents goodbye.
The three of them searched along the train for an empty compartment and then settled themselves down.
"So Remus," Sirius grinned, "you off to your Prefect meeting?"
Remus gave a tired sigh, "I suppose I'll have to. I wonder who the Head Boy and Girl are this year."
"I thought it would be you and Lily," shrugged Marlene, "but Lily didn't mention anything in her letters."
"James is head boy," said Sirius.
Marlene and Remus both blinked at him.
"James Potter?" Marlene raised her eyebrows, "head boy? Are we talking about the same James Potter."
"Yeah, he's head boy," blinked Sirius.
Remus snorted loudly, "who in their right mind would make James, Head Boy."
"Lots of people actually Moony," James had just entered the compartment. Sure enough, he was wearing a gleaming head boy badge on his chest.
"So who's Head Girl then?" Asked Marlene.
"Why, were you hoping for the job McKinnon?" James grinned.
"Nah, I'm fine with Quidditch captain, I just want to know."
"It's Evans," James said.
"She didn't tell me that!" Marlene complained, "not even a word."
"Well, me and Moony must bid you two lovebirds goodbye, we have duties to our school to fulfil!" James said in a jovial tone, he grabbed Remus's arm and the two left the compartment.
"I think I might sleep through this jorney," Marlene lay down, putting her head onto Sirius's lap.
"I think that's a good idea," Sirius agreed.

"You two have got some nerve!" Marlene stood facing James and Lily who had just entered the common room (much to everyone's surprise) holding hands. Marlene turned to face Lily, as James and Lily's hands sprung apart, "first you didn't tell me that you're Head Girl, now you didn't even bother to mention that you're dating this toerag."
"Hey!" James yelled, but Marlene ignored him.
Lily gave her a shifty look and glanced around the silent (almost) common room. The only noise, was the soft chuckling coming from Sirius, Remus and Peter.
"I mean, I'm not complaining or anything," Marlene continued, "I mean, I've been saying it for years, and-" she was cut off when Sirius pulled her down onto his lap, "what was that for?"
"You were irritating me," Sirius grinned and kissed her on the nose.
Marlene huffed loudly and crossed her arms across her chest.
