"Bugger " Marlene murmured as she flipped through the small calendar that hung in the kitchen area of the flat.
"What?" Sirius looked up from his motorcycle repair manual. He had recently enacted a life long dream, of purchasing a muggle motorbike. He was intending to 'renovate' it. Which in Sirius's mind, meant that he would be illegally modifying the bike.
"I'm late," said Marlene, flipping determinedly through the calendar, looking for the small black dots that she drew on it. But she had not drawn one on for almost two months.
"Late for what?" Sirius looked back at his manual.
"No, Sirius I'm late. Like I'm late!" She emphasised the second late.
"Late for what?" Sirius asked, slightly exasperated, "use your words Lenie!"
"Honestly Snuffles, am I going to have to spell it out for you?" She pulled the manual out of his hands, "my period is late. I might be pregnant!"
"Pre-Pregnant?" Sirius stared at her.
"Yes. Pregnant."
"Merlin," Sirius continued to stare at her, shaking his head slightly, "a baby."
"A baby," Marlene repeated, sitting down beside Sirius, both of them stared straight ahead. "This wasn't part of the plan."
"When have we ever planned anything?" Sirius laughed.
"That's true," said Marlene.
"A baby," Sirius said again, "I mean, are we ready for a baby."
"Well, you're a bit like a baby, and I've managed not to kill you, so I think we're all set," Marlene laughed. Patting Sirius on the back.
"Hey!"
"But really, I'm excited," she grinned widely, turning to look at him, "if I am actually pregnant I mean."
"You know what," Sirius turned to look at her, with a grin wider than her's, "me too."

"You two will be God Parents won't you?" Said a now four month pregnant Lily, almost as soon as Marlene and Sirius walked through the door of the Potter's newly hidden house.
Dumbledore suggested that they cast the Flidalus Charm on the house. That meant that they would require a Secret Keeper. They originally asked Sirius, but right at the moment that they were to cast the Charm, Sirius suggested that Peter be the Secret Keeper.
It was a stroke of genius. As no one would expect Peter of being the person they chose to be the Secret Keeper, they would expect the generally more powerful wizard, Sirius.
The only people who knew about the switch were Lily and James themselves, Peter, Sirius and Marlene.
James had told Sirius to tell Remus, but the two men hadn't been on the best of terms, as they parted ways after an argument, where they both accused each other of being a spy for Voldemort.
The argument had been stupid. Each had seemed to forget their years of friendship, and accuse each other purely based upon stereotypes.
Remus had seemed to assume, that because Sirius was a Black, he would follow the same path as his Death Eater relatives, despite the many times that Sirius had proved how different he was from the rest of them.
Sirius had assumed that because Remus was a werewolf (lots of werewolves having joined Voldemort), he was the spy.
Marlene had tried her best to reason with Sirius, to make him see sense, but he didn't want to. He was sure that Remus was the one who betrayed them.
Long story short, they were not on good terms.
But James and Lily were blissfully ignorant of two of their Best Friend's argument.
"We'd love to be Godparents!" Said Sirius with a wide grin, whilst he and Marlene hurried into the cottage and through into the small living room.
"Wait, don't be so hasty Sirius!" Marlene laughed, she turned to Lily, a fully serious look on her face, "we will be Godparents to your Spawn on one condition."
"Did you just call our kid Spawn?" James entered the room, holding three cups of coffee and a cup of tea. He handed the cup of tea to Lily and offered Marlene a cup of coffee.
"No thanks," Marlene shook her head,
"Sweet Merlin, you're pregnant!" Squealed Lily.
"Wow, I didn't expect you to work it out that fast," Marlene laughed.
"Congratulations!" Lily hugged her friend, "this is going to be wonderful! Our kids are going to be almost the same age! They're going to grow up together! Oh, they're going to be best friends and-"
"Jamsie, she's ranting again," said Sirius, with a grin.
"Shut up Padfoot," Lily glared at him.
"Well, anyway," Marlene continued, "we will be Godparents of your Spawn-"
"-I still don't like you calling our kid Spawn," said James.
Marlene ignored him, "we will be Godparents of your Spawn, if you will be Godparents to our Spawn."
Lily's face broke into a massive smile, "we'd love to."
