"You!" Marlene stormed towards where Sirius sat with James, Peter and Remus in the common room after dinner. "What on earth did you do to Snape!"

Sirius looked surprised to hear her yelling at him, but didn't let it phase him. He looked hopelessly at James.

"He played a little joke on old Snivellous," said James, shooting Sirius a look that Marlene had never seen James give Sirius, there was a little bit of disgust in the look. "Told him to go to the Shrieking Shack on the full moon."

"He deserved it," Sirius chipped in, "asking all those questions about Moony, poking his greasy nose where it didn't belong!"

Marlene narrowed her eyes and put her hands on her hips, all thoughts of the happy day that she and Sirius had spent together gone, in favour of anger.

"What?" She demanded, her voice remained as calm as she could keep it, but nevertheless, her voice shook with rage. "You sent him down the passage. You could have killed him! Think what that would've done to Remus!"

Sirius glanced at Remus, who had an unreadable expression on his face.

"I pulled old Snivellous back," said James, disgust still evident in his voice, "saved his stinking skin."

Marlene was at a loss for what she could say to Sirius. Yes, she hated Snape. But she didn't want him dead. Sirius had taken it far beyond anything that Marlene had ever dreamed that he could.

She turned on her heel away from the group and hurried up the staircase to the girl's dorms. Anger boiling over. She punched the pillows on her bed repeatedly when she arrived in the bedroom, tumbling onto her bed and screaming into her duvet.

Sirius spent the remainder of the day wallowing in self pity.

He had finally been able to get Marlene to go on a date with him, and then he ruined it. With a stupid prank.

"Well, to be fair, Marlene was right," said James, still giving Sirius a dirty look as James got to his feet to go to bed, "that wasn't a good move."

Sirius just groaned, and let James leave him alone in the common room.

He placed his head in his hands and sighed. Why has he thought that it was a good idea to tell Snape to go to the Shrieking Shack? What had possessed him? Even James, who hated Snape more than anyone else, thought that he had gone too far.

Eventually, Sirius made his slow way up the stairs to the boy's dormatry. All of the other four occupants of the dorm were asleep, with the hangings drawn tightly around their beds. Sirius quickly pulled on his pyjamas and lay down in his bed, drawing the drapes around his bed tightly, and letting out one final sigh.
