His hand in yours is perfect. Although, you can't help but wonder why it's there in the first place.

Is it for dominance? Is he trying to show that he is in charge? You scoff, knowing that it's clear you're in charge.

Is it for possession? You've noticed that he holds your hands in situations where he has to claim you. You don't mind that one but he does it all the time. It's not the reason.

He holds your hand in times of need. When he feels lonely, sad, mad, excited and right now, it's out of fear. Fear that you might leave him. You finally realise that hand holding isn't to dominate or possess. It's to show that 'I'm here for you', 'don't go', and 'stay', all of which you were planning on doing.

You tug his hand. He looks down at you, squeezing your hand, sharing unspoken words with you. You smile, reaching up to kiss him. He doesn't let go of your hand and this time it's to make sure that this is all real.
