Callie's POV
"Callie Swan. You do look ravishing this evening."
I cannot help but smirk as I empty the last sweater from my trunk and into my dresser.
"Cedric Diggory," I say without turning to look at him, "You look.. Well, you look like you."
He laughs a little and I cannot help but smiling more at the sound.
I feel him take a seat on my bed and finally look up at him.
He's as beautiful as always, lanky, and pale, with beautiful eyes.
"I take that as the most high regarded compliment you can give a person. Who wouldn't want to look like me."
I can't help but roll my eyes.
"Are you alright?' I whisper, suddenly remembering that he was almost killed by Death Eaters a couple days ago.
Cedric's face softens and he is looking at me with love. For a moment, I feel like Jasper doesn't exist. Ced and I just made sense. I always thought that I would be with him in the end.
Part of me still feels like I might. I have only known Jasper for a few days but I have known Ced since we were eleven.
"Perfectly perfect." He grins and I nod to myself.
"Good. I was scared there for a minute." I cannot help but sniffle a little after I say this. I was terrified.
I feel him get up from the bed and all of a sudden he is standing in front of me. I stand so that our faces are just inches apart.
He puts a hand to my cheek, caressing it. I feel like I am melting into him.
"I missed you, Swan."
Suddenly, he leans forward and his lips are on mine and I do not feel the need to stop it. Instead of stopping him, I kiss him back.
Suddenly we hear bells dong and we slowly part, knowing it is time for dinner.
"Do not put your name in the goblet."Cedric says in a stern voice, I can't help but roll my eyes again.
"I'm serious Cal." He grabs onto my arm. "Be smart." He quickly adds.
"I should say the same about you."
There is a small sound by the door and we both look towards it to see Harry.
"Heya Harry.I didn't know Callie and you are friends."
I cringe a little at the way he says friends, like he is jealous or something. Not only is Harry fourteen years old, but he's also my little brother but Ced doesn't know that yet.
"Ah, distant relatives." Is all Harry says, looking a little nervous at Cedric's tone.
Ced eyes me, looking a little confused.
"Well, you have a lot to explain later." He whispers in my ear as he starts to walk to the door. I nod and Harry steps away from the doorway to give him room.
Harry's POV
When I walked into Callie's room, I couldn't help but stand and gawk when I saw her and Cedric kissing. I stay silent, waiting to see what they say after, I lean on the doorway and the floorboard creaks slightly. Both Callie and Cedric look over to me. Callie is smiling warmly at me but you can tell she is not really meaning it. Cedric seems to be a little tense.
"Heya Harry. I didn't know Callie and you are friends."
His tone is so possessive over my sister. Callie turns and gives him a pleading look but he ignores it.
"Distant relatives." Is all I can manage to think of.
I try my hardest not to punch Diggory in the face for the possessive stance he has taken with Callie.
Cedric gives Callie a confused look but seems to accept my answer. He lets go of her wrist and whispers something in her ear. Callie nods and stares after him, narrowing her eyes.
Finally, she looks over to me.
"Hello Harry, what do you need?" she asks, the smile returning to her face, and this time it was a lot realer.
"I came to see if I can have the pleasure of escorting you to the Great Hall for dinner."
Callie eyes me and laughs, putting her trunk under her bed.
"Oh! I would be honored."
I can't help but smile at her response as she excitedly runs around the bed to take my arm.
We walk to the Great Hall in silence, then Callie stops.
"Harry, before I go to dinner, there is something I have to do."
I raise an eyebrow but nod,
"Do you want me to come with?" I ask, not wanting her to ever be alone.
She smiles but shakes her head.
"I just have to send a letter real quick. I will be in the Owlery if you need me!'
She yells as she walks towards the steps that lead to the Owlery.
Callie's POV
I sit on the floor of the Owlery with a piece of crinkled paper and a quill.
I begin to write and I cannot stop the tears from coming. I knew I had to do the right thing.
My Dearest Jasper,
I love you. Although we haven't known each other for long, I do love you. However, there are things here at home that make our relationship impossible. You see, there is another guy. He's not just anyone, I think he's my person.
I am so sorry. Know I will always be there for you. The war that is ravaging my world will not stop me from keeping touch.
Maybe one day, the circumstances will change but until then. I must end any romantic endeavors we would decide to embark on.
Sincerely, and with love,
Caroline
I feel my soaked face with my fingers as I get up to put the letter in the envelope.
"What are you doing in here?"
I shriek as I hear a voice ask from behind me.
I pull my wand out and look to see Snape standing there.
He steps back when he sees my face.
"Caroline. I-" He starts and I tuck the letter into the inside pocket of my rob.
"Professor Snape, how do you know my full name?" I ask, staring at him.
He sighs and for the first time, I see a smile on Snape's face.
"I, Callie Evans-Swan, am your Godfather."
And this is the part where I faint.
