Creaking the door open, you poked your head into the hallway. There were doors down the hallway on both walls. Noting the likelihood of the other ship passengers resting in those rooms, you slowly and smoothly moved your body through the door's small gap. Closing the door behind you, you looked left and right.

Creaking open the door, you poked your head into the hallway. Noting the doors down both hallway walls

Before you could make a decision, a dark figure appeared in front of you. The dark figure had long, black hair that covered its face. It was a humanoid figure, donning a black turtleneck and sweat pants.

"Oh, sorry," it near-silently apologized as it leaned forward, allowing all the hair to fall down, then flipping it back to reveal its face.

The dark figure was a boy that looked to be around your age...though maybe a year or two older. His skin was a darker color and his eyes were oval. After observing him a while, you realized he was of Native American descent.

He tied his long, black hair in a low ponytail. The long hair cascaded down his back , reaching his lower back. He lifted a gloved finger and beckoned you to follow him.

Overwhelmed with curiosity, you followed him as he walked down the hallway and exited through a door to reach the outside. He held the door open to allow you through. You passed through, keeping your curious eyes locked on his face.

He gently shut the door and looked out at the beautiful, clear night sky. "Oh, how the night sky is the most beautiful thing... I always feel disappointed when the sunrise interrupts it."

"Yes..." you agreed hesitantly. "Feel free to introduce yourself whenever is convenient for you."

"Ah, you must've been confused. Since you phone was confiscated before transporting you here, I couldn't communicate with you through it so I have to meet you in person," he explained.

"Oh," you realized. "You are the one guy that I'm allowed to trust."

"Yes. The name is Hunter in case you forgot," he reminded you.

You squinted your eyes. "Is that really your name? Or are you a hunter so you're called Hunter? Like how the leader is called Leader?"

"You cracked the code. Congratulations, Agent."

Your mind was blown by the discovery and you wondered what else you could be missing. You felt the cooling wind against your burning cheeks. It felt nice in the beginning, but as the wind brought clouds, it began to feel chilly.

"Do you know what the sad part about tonight is? It is the last time we will ever see it."

You looked out at the sky. Dark clouds settled in, unstoppable as they blocked the stars.

"It really is a shame. I thought we had a connection. I thought you joined the resistance so you could make a difference. But, instead, you sell us out."

Your stomach dropped and a chill went through your body. The dark clouds surrounded the ship.

"I would never--"

"Oh, but you did," he interrupted. "Yes, you did. But, I can't blame you."

You stared at him as he sat on a bench and covered his face with his hands. You shifted uncomfortably, unsure of how to respond to his silence.

After a minute of silence, the wind stopped, but the dark clouds remained. The still air seemed to make time stop.

Hunter uncovered his face and looked up. Tears streaked his cheeks and his reddened eyes stared into yours as though pleading. "I didn't realize that you would think of me so negatively. Saying that I have mental issues...I'm sorry. Leader is right. I am worthless. Leader should have never invested any time into me. I'm a waste and I deserve my fate," he choked out.

You shook your head in disbelief, immediately regretting saying those mindless judgments against him. Sure, he was weird and desperate, but you never considered the background someone that is named after their job would have.

"You didn't come for me. You came for romance between you and Leo or Nico. You never wanted me and I should've known. Who would want me? I'm just the mysterious slave of the opposing side," he whined. "No one will ever want me."

"Why do you say that? You can make your own choices. You don't need anyone to tell you who you are or what you are worth," you encouraged him. "Come on, we can go on an adventure together. We don't have to be bound to the options of this book."

He shook his head weakly. "No, no. Leader would never allow ideas like that. Leader says I'll hurt myself with such selfish thoughts."

You grabbed his arms that were going up to cover his face again. You forced him to look you in the eyes. "Hunter, I don't think Annabeth and the rest are the ones that are brainwashed. I think...it might be you."

"No!" he burst as he pushed you away. His fingers tangled in his hair as he screamed. "I have let Leader down. I must follow the rest of the orders to make it right!"

A dark figure flew through the air, tackling Hunter and pinning him to the ground. In the moonlight, you could see it was Nico.

Restraining Hunter's arms above his head, Nico growled at him. "Who sent you?" he demanded.

Hunter flailed helplessly beneath Nico's pin. "I will never sell out Leader. I am not weak."

A loud smacking sound echoed in the still air. With a reddening handprint on Hunter's face, Nico held Hunter's wrists tighter. "Who. Sent. You."

Hunter smiled, shaking his head weakly as blood trickled out of his nose. "Only a few more seconds..."

Nico questioned what Hunter meant but then leaped back.  "Quick! (Y/N), there's a--"

A roaring rage enveloped all sound. Everything was unbearably hot, and then nothing at all.
