"Were you talking to someone last night?"

You blinked, wondering if this is what Hunter meant when he warned you everything was going to plan. You couldn't imagine how this could possibly be a part of the plan.

"I heard you talking last night. You had a pretty good conversation going on and..."

"Oh, yeah, that's normal. I talk to myself all the time. I'm a very interesting person and make myself laugh sometimes."

Leo's droopy eyes widened. The dreary expression on Leo's face was replaced by a brightening smile? The pupils in his eyes seemed to be heart-shaped for a split second.

"Seriously?" he gasped.

You tilted your head, questioning his reaction. "No, I'm kidding. Last night, I was actually talking to the alien in my head," you rolled your eyes. "What do you expect me to say?"

Giggling, Leo leaned against the wall. "You don't strike me as a 'talking-to-self' type."

You tilted your head to the other side as though it would help you better understand his thought process. "The scariest part about crazy people is they look just like the rest of us."

"Well, when you're crazy, you're supposed to do something to let everyone else know. For example, I'm crazy, so I will wear my goggles like a headband," he said as he pointed to his hair. Sure enough, there stretched a pair of goggles with hair tangled in the straps.

You laughed, agreeing he looked crazy.

"But, what were you talking to yourself about?" Leo asked, raising his eyebrows. "Anyone in particular?"

Shifting your weight from one foot to the other, you remembered last night. The only person you were really thinking about was Hunter and whether or not you should trust him. But, of course, you knew what Leo was referring to.

"Ah, no..." you trailed off.

"If you ever need someone to talk to, I'm usually on the deck pretending to work," he winked.

"I'm up practically 24/7 so you can check up there any time."

"Thanks," you smiled.

Leo waved off the thanks, disowning any praise. "Don't worry about it. I could use the company anyway."

"So, where are you going to pretend to work after this?" you asked.

"Actually, I'm going to the kitchen to whip up some breakfast for everyone. I'd invite you, but then I would probably get distracted and burn something," he shrugged. "Oh yes," he paused, then bowed slightly. In a really...really bad French accent, he said, "You are formally invited to join us in A Morning on a Ship and enjoy an extraordinarily average breakfast in the dining room."

"Heh..."

"Or," he continued, except, thankfully, he dropped the French accent. "You can stay here if you would prefer to avoid social interactions. It's okay if you don't want to go to breakfast, although we'd prefer if you come."
