You picked the ring out of his hand. "I don't understand why you are giving this to me."
"Leader is sparing no expense when it comes to ensuring the success of our mission. So, she gifted you this ring. If you ever need to summon me, simply rub on the sides like it's a genie lamp. I may appear if I am not busy. Simple, right?"
Considering how much you knew about Hunter, you didn't feel comfortable referring to him as anything other than "sir". You were wary of him. I mean, this guy practically kidnapped you and put on you a ship with a bunch of strangers without meeting you in person to explain how serious he was.
"Yes, sir," you responded.
"Ah," he whispered as he took a step back. He offered a half-smile, as though that would make him less scary. "I hope I'm not annoying you with repeating myself, but like I said earlier, you don't have to be so formal with me." He studied you reaction then quickly added, "Unless you don't want to...we should be friends, you know?"
Your expression and posture firm, you stared blankly at him. You weren't going to change you mind. True friends wouldn't guilt you into being their friend.
"You don't have to be my friend. I'm looking out for you. It's easier to fight for a cause if the other side was more than just some mysterious mafia sort of thing. I thought you might need a friend."
Mini Choice:
Chapter 53: "Can we rewind? I guess you're right."
Continue: "Being friends with you doesn't make the 'other side' seem any less mysterious."
"Being friends with you doesn't make the 'other side' seem any less mysterious," you told him.
He nodded as he bit the inside of his cheek. "I completely understand. I hope you will stay with us long enough to be able to learn more about us. We only want you to know what you must. The rest will just slow you down," he explained.
You paused a few seconds, giving him time to tell you something before you dismissed him. He said nothing. "If you're done, I should be going to bed," you yawned.
"You must be tired after today. But, before I let you go, I just want to make sure I didn't do anything to offend you or make you uncomfortable. If I do, let me know," he requested. "I fear you might forget who you can really trust. Remember: I'm the only one you can trust. It's for your own good."
"I understand," you nodded. "Are you done?"
"Um..." he thought, snapping his fingers as though it would help him remember. His snaps were silent through his gloves. "Leader ordered me to tell you certain things. I will just reiterate a specific part and I hope you listen. Stay on guard. You may feel like you are in danger, but don't worry. Everything is a part of our plan. Commit to your story and the symptoms and your story. Please, do that for me."
"Yes, sir."
Gently taking your hand into his, he stopped himself before he knelt down. Instead of kissing your knuckles, he observed the ring he had given you. "Beautiful," he said. "Lovely ring, it truly suits you." He smiled slightly and said, "I hope you have better luck sleeping."

As soon as your head made contact with the pillow, you felt as though the room around you were spinning. When you tried to open your eyes, you were helpless to stop your eyelids from shutting. Your body relaxed and you found yourself sleeping immediately.
*********************
A slight nudge distracted you from your deep sleep. "Princess, please." That voice...you felt like the person was important, but you were too comfortable to care. "Please, get up."
You tried to wake up yourself, but all you could do was squirm for a half second. The cocoon of blanket hugged you so nicely, you felt guilty leaving it. You felt your mouth was slightly open and could feel drool leak down your cheek, but you didn't care enough to fix it. You didn't want to risk waking yourself.
"Please...I understand you're tired. I wish I could let you sleep in; you look like a nymph when you sleep. But, Leader ordered me to ensure you don't miss out on any chances to participate in the mission," the voice explained. Only one person knew about Leader. Hunter.
"Wha..." you grumbled into the pillow. "Nymph?"
"I meant 'angel'," he corrected himself. The weight of a hand gripped your shoulder gently. "Please, you must get up. In order to bring about a new world, you must first get out of bed."
Groaning a whale song into your pillow, you protested. "That new world can wait," you mumbled, although your voice was muffled in the pillow.
"I'm sorry that what I'm about to do, but it's for your own good," he apologized. You expected a bucket of ice water or maybe bright lights to beam into your pupils. Instead, you felt something much worse. The pillow slipped out of beneath you.
Suddenly, everything changed. The blankets no longer felt comfortable, but rather hot and clammy. The bed didn't feel soft, but rather springy. The bright sunlight shone in your eyes from the porthole. You no longer wanted to sleep.
Pushing yourself out of bed, you faced Hunter. He held the pillow behind his back as though he expected you to try to get it back. You crossed your arms. "What the heck are you doing in my room? Were you..." you had a hard time finishing the question. "Watching me?"
Hunter's face reddened as he smiled tightly. "I wish I could answer your questions, but you are under strict orders of not asking any questions."
Hunter's face reddened as his eyes widened. "What? Okay
Sighing, you walked to the dresser and searched the drawers. Within a few seconds, you picked out a shirt that reminded you of a kaleidoscope with its colorful shapes and patterns and a pair of dark blue jeans. Closing the drawers, you scanned the room. Hunter was gone.

Right as you finished buttoning the pants, a knock came from the door.
Looking around the room, you tried to rid of any evidence of being messy. You kicked your dirty clothes underneath the bed, out of sight, as you said, "Come in."
Leo stuck his head into the room. His dark circles wore underneath his slightly red eyes. "Good morning, hot stuff," he winked. Despite his zombie look, his voice sounded energetic.
Half smiling, you gestured for him to come in. "Morning, Leo. Why did you visit?"
He entered. The door swung open behind him. "I wanted to check to see if you had trouble sleeping."
Tilting your head, you questioned his intention. "Like a baby." You caught yourself before you asked him a question, but then remembered there was no rule against asking him a question. "Why do you ask?"
"Well," he looked down as he fumbled with his tool belt zippers. "I don't mean to accuse you of doing anything wrong. I just--was there--I mean I don't think--but was there--wait hold on--"
"Leo," you said, forcing him to pause. "It's okay. You can just ask. I won't be offended."
He nodded, looking both surprised and relieved. "Were you talking to someone last night?"
You blinked, wondering if this is what Hunter meant when he warned you everything was going to plan. You couldn't imagine how this could possibly be a part of the plan.
"I heard you talking last night. You had a pretty good conversation going on and..."
Choice Time:
Chapter 67: "Well, I did sleep like a baby. A baby that is super grumpy and can't calm down."
Chapter 61: "Oh, yeah, that's normal. I talk to myself all the time. I'm a very interesting person and make myself laugh sometimes."
