oh I know it's been a while
but I still wonder how you've been
you'll be one and twenty
when I'm but touching seventeen
all things have changed since I have left
my phone number is not the same
nor yours, so I will never know
if you'll want to talk again
but I'll remember you with friendly thoughts
and hope you're doing fine
perhaps our childhood lives weren't meant
to in adolescence intertwine
so I'll remember you and your boyish face
and that whimsical, laughing smile
that friendship was never meant to last
but it did, for just a little while.
