"Fuck it."
Taehyung swore under his breath as he quickly turned and ran behind the bus, following it's route. The cold wind was hurting his skin, the snow was making it harder to run but Taehyung couldn't stop thinking about you. If he felt like he was nearly dying in this weather then it wouldn't be long enough before you actually do. Though never in his life did Taehyung remember himself running so fast which was surprising to him as well because his life was never an uneventful one. Never one where he had to stop running away or running towards something.
It took him exactly 9 minutes to reach the last bus stop, right in time that too because as he skidded to a stop, panting and out of breath he saw you only just stepping out of the bus looking around, dazed at your surroundings. But as usual, wordlessly and slowly you turned around and started to walk away, getting further and further away from his sight. So Taehyung followed. He followed every step you took, reading the signs of your body, noticing how you were starting to shiver and finding it harder to take a step before you came to a complete halt. The moment Taehyung saw that he knew he had to run, he knew that you were about to fall and that he was the only one who could catch you. And sure enough the moment he was inches away from you, you finally succumbed, all the strength you were displaying finally failing you, letting all the pain and weakness take over as you fell back right into his arms.
"Hey" Taehyung slowly lowered himself onto his knees along with you, unable to hold onto your dead weight straight. Softly pushing back the hairs on your face, he tapped your cheek trying to wake you up. "You go to hang in there."
Letting you lean against his chest, he quickly stripped out of his jacket and wrapped you around it carefully. "You need to be strong like you were for so long. Everything is going to be fine." Placing your arms around his neck, he lifted you, one arm under your knee and the other around your shoulder as he stood up and your head gentlely rested against his shoulder.
Taehyung looked at the road ahead, not a taxi in sight, no buses going back. And given the time, there was no way he could find one any time soon and you needed warmth as soon as possible. That only meant one thing - he had to walk. And for some strange reason he didn't mind doing it. Though you were a stranger, though it meant he had to walk in the cold, though it made things harder for him, he didn't mind it. He just wanted to save you.
It took him nearly 25 mins to walk back this time. Taehyung could feel his arms getting sore but he didn't care, he just walked on and on sometimes looking at the road but most of the time looking at you and wishing your hair was not all over your face so he could see your features more clearly. There was something so unreadable about them that didn't let him take his eyes off of you.
Soon enough he had reached his small apartment, going up the lift to the 8th floor and suddenly halting right in front of his door cause well, he had no idea how to open it. Sighing to himself, he knew the only thing logical thing to now was ask for help so he turned around and stared at the signboard of the door in front of him - Karen and Kate's Krib. He could hear the television noises from the sisters' house which meant at least one of them was at home. As he used his elbow to ring the bell, he hoped it would be the younger sister who'd open the door and to much to his pleasure, it was her voice that rang through the silence.
"Who is it?"
"It's me, Tae." He spoke to the wooden door behind the grill. And then there was a sound of shuffling and footsteps and the distant jingle of keys.
"What is it now Tae? Finally decided you want to marry me?"
If not for the given situation, Taehyung would have chuckled at the running joke. But now he had things more important. "Is Karen at home?"
