When Taehyung came back home that evening he was half expecting to not see you there again. And right enough when he opened the door, everything was dark and unmoving. Sighing resignedly, he stepped in, kicking off his soggy shoes by the door, leaving his wet umbrella outside and carrying the packages in his hands in, till suddenly his ears perked at a soft noise from the kitchen. Keeping his guard up he slowly walked in, all senses sharp and alert till he heard the clicking of the lighter and saw the familiar silhouette of you lighting a candle, getting startled as the light illuminated him before you.

"Oh god you scared me!" Half laughing you held up the candle between you two, the soft glow lighting up your face so beautifully.

"You're here." Taehyung felt more relieved than he could tell. You weren't gone. You stayed.

You looked at him raising your eye brows for stating the obvious. "Yeah of course I am." You continued to light a couple more candles in your hand, aligning them on the kitchen counter. "The power went out due to the rain, I think there's a black out in the whole city."

You slowly walked out placing the candles around the kitchen and the living room. "Took me so long to find these candles in the darkness though." You stopped in the middle, standing upright scrunching your nose slightly. "Is that the scent of cranberry?" You smiled at that. "I love it."

Taehyung leaned against the dining table, arms crossed, smiling at you. "Those were Christmas gifts, kinda expensive you know, I had saved them for special occasions."

Instantly your mouth parted apologetically as you rushed to put out the flame. "I'm so sorry I didn't-"

"It's okay." Taehyung stopped you just as you were about to blow them out, mouth shaped in a small O. "Today is a special occasion."

"It is?" You frowned thoughtfully.

"Let's just say it is." Taehyung turned around and walked into the kitchen washing his hands in the sink at the side. "It's not every day the city has a black out."

"Yeah I guess." You shrugged looking at him.

"And I love it when it happens."

"You love being in the dark?"

"No, not exactly...Come here." Taehyung beckoned you with his hand. "Let me show you."

You walked toward him, a candle still in your hand as he took it from you, both your eyes locking for a minute without reason, and he placed it on the counter before leading you into the small balcony you hadn't noticed the last time you were here.

"Look." He pointed at the sky and as you looked up, your eyes fell on the stars.

They looked like fireflies, only they burned brighter against the glowing black satin behind layers and layers of serene clouds above your heads. It was so surreal and it made you want to reach up for one, keep it in your hands for warmth, so you did, making a failing attempt to scoop up the glitter in the sky and let the stars swirl and touch one another but they are so distant, so far apart that you cannot feel the warmth of them even though they are made of burning.

You looked at Taehyung beside you who was leaning against the metal, arms resting on you, eyes wandering everywhere in the sky. They reminded you of him, the stars, he gave off the same warmth that you had distanced yourself too far to receive. It was because even though you we burning, you didn't like to watch him burn.

When he turned to look at you staring at him, you immediately looked away, hands gripping the metal of the balcony railing.

"It's...it's beautiful."
