"Actually, my son-in-law, you wouldn't have died any other way."
Everyone turned to regard Z with a confused face. Everyone but Y and Sehee.
Yoongi frowned, the back of his mind still fretting over 'son-in-law', but the forefront of his thoughts was more focused on the other words.
You wouldn't have died any other way? What does he mean by that?
It was Jimin who said Yoongi's thoughts out loud. "What do you mean, Appa?" the boy asked, his voice laced with utter confusion as he held Taehyung. Taehyung, now rubbing his eyes from the tears, lifted his head and frowned as well.
"When Y told me about Suga, I thought he was just exaggerating. It turns out every single thing he said was true," Z said in response to his son's question, which only made Jimin more confused.
Well, maybe it's not a response to Jimin's question after all.
Yoongi watched as Tadashi rolled his eyes. "Z, please stop your drama. Will you just go straight to your point?"
The smile on Z's lips tightened but he remained to ignore what Y said.
"What do you mean by we wouldn't have died any other way?" Jungkook was the one who asked, his voice impatient. He seemed to have enough courage to directly ask the founder of AC.
Z sighed, his eyes gazing around until it landed on Jimin's. "Even if little Taetae turned out to be a bad guy, you still wouldn't have died. Even if my son-in-law was not good enough, no one would've died."
They all blinked.
"Because I was with you the whole time."
They all blinked again.
Wait.
The whole time?
Once again, Jimin echoed his thoughts.
"The whole time?"
Z nodded. "I would have never left you, my Chimmy. While I was away, A was keeping an eye on you, making sure you're safe. I also came back a couple of times to check on you personally." The man slowly smiled, his expression warm and careful as he spoke. "You did not know but I was there when you graduated. Each year, I'm watching you celebrate your birthday, wherever you may have chosen to celebrate it. I knew that you became close friends with one of the new agents in AC, and upon knowing that it was X who recruited him, I immediately concluded that he was sent by that asshole."
"I can't ask Ace to try finding out the plan of X since it might put her in danger. So I did it myself. It turned out that he had accidentally met Jimin in a convenience store. And since my son assembled me so much, added to the fact that X and I used to be together always, he had quickly realized that Jimin was my son. So, he sent V to try looking for the Data from my little boy."
Sehee snorted at this part before Z had the chance to continue. "He was really mad when he found out about this., threatening to kill X and all. Good thing I was able to convince him to calm down and that he had a mission to do." She glanced at Taehyung with a smile. "Z knew that you were only forced, no worries. Which was why he didn't make a move to separate you from Jimin."
Though a bit annoyed at being interrupted, Z nodded anyway. "Ace was always keeping an eye on you. And when she found out that X finally decided to take care of my son himself, I-"
"He sent Sehee to me," Tadashi continued for him, making Z blink his eyes in slight irritation, having been interrupted every time. "She did not reveal herself though. It was only cryptic message. And at that time, I still did not know he was alive. I didn't care if the message was true or not, I quickly contacted Suga and forcibly pulled him away from his mission that time and sent him to save Jimin."
