Far or Near?

Part Twenty-five

Devan's POV
"Devan! Come down here!" Collins shouted from our living room. I was currently FaceTiming Emma on the phone, so I quickly apologized to her, telling her that I'll call again later. "Coming!" I shouted back before hopping off my bed and jogging down to the living room. "So, what's up?" I asked, taking the last steps of the stairs and looked up at my parents & Collins. 

Their faces were worried, almost like they were scared. I furrowed my eyebrows. "Is... everything alright, guys? Mom? Dad?" I worriedly asked them and sat on the sofa, besides Collins and infront of m our parents.

"Well, yes, everything is alright... for us. But for you?..." My mom started but trailed off, looking at me then looking at my dad. "For you,... it might be hard.." My dad said in a low volume. And that made me worry more. "What? Just tell me." I said, chuckling nervously at the end. 

After a moment of silence, Collins spoke, "Well, mom and dad decided we could go back to... California..." He trailed off. I smiled and looked at them. "Sure! Why not! How could that be hard for me?" I asked, quite delightful about the news. But they didn't answer the question for a moment and I asked again. Mom took a deep breath before speaking again, 

"Devan. We'll be leaving this place. For God knows how long," She said, leaning forward at me and I furrowed my eyebrows. "And?" I asked and they just looked at me in response. I furrowed my eyebrows once again. "Is there... something i'm missing?" I asked, looking at them. 

"Bro... We're leaving this place. You're gonna leave Emma." 

And that hit me harder than puberty hitting Collins. (a/n this scene is supposed to be serious but i just had to XD)

 I can't... I can't believe I didn't realize that... What do I... what do I do?!

"B-but... do we, uhm, really have to go back? I-is it really necessary?" I stuttered out, almost panicking. Both my mom and dad nodded sadly. "Wh-why?" Then they explain what happened. They explained why I had to freaking leave my princess here. "Can't I stay here?" I asked, desperately. "Bro! You can't live on your own even if you're an adult now." Collins said and my parents agreed to that. I frustratingly tugged at my hair.

I kept trying to think of something. Some... some reason to stay here. I told them anything that I could think of but it's just....

"I'm sorry, Devan. But you and Emma can always work a long distance relationship!" My mom tried to cheer but it won't work that much. "Yeah, but I still can't leave her! What if she get's kidnapped again? What if someone decides to do something to her?" I aggressively said, only to realize that I'm actually standing now.

"Ethan, Hazel, and her parents are there, so it's fine-" "No! That's the point! Ethan is stuck with Emma. And Ethan has feelings for my girlfriend! Don't you remember when Ethan kissed Emma all of a sudden? What if he does worse!" I said, felling aggrieved. 

"Devan, calm down. Don't raise your voice at your mother!" Dad scolded me and that made me sit back down and apologize to my mom. They all sighed. "Devan... I know you love Emma. We all do. But she's a strong girl and you know that. If something does happen, they'll update you." Collins spoke up again, reassuring me. I sighed and just nodded in response. 

"But what if she...." I quickly disregarded my 'what if'. She wouldn't and I know that. She loves me. She wouldn't have feelings for Ethan......

Oh no. I shouldn't doubting my girlfriend. I trust her and I will trust her no natter what. I sighed once again and informed them that I'll be at my room, not even waiting or listening to what their reply was; my mind was too clouded and occupied. 

I locked the door and lied on my bed, looking at the picture of me and Emma. 

"God, what will I do?"
