I stared at my computer screen with a blank expression.
How do I start a story? A love story? I've never even experienced it.
"Pick up your phone, Ariel. It's Noah." I twirled around in my chair and stared at my room.
"Pick up your phone, Ariel. It's Noah."
Standing up, I searched beside my bed and under it. I stood up with a sigh.
"Pick up your phone, Ariel. It's Noah-"
"Hello?" I answered, grabbing my phone that was laying on my pillow.
"Hey! Do you have any plans tonight?" He asked. I laughed.
"Are you kidding? Of course not."
"Good, I need a date."
I took my phone away from my ear for a second and stared at it.
"Hello Ari, you there?" He asked. I put it back up to my ear.
"You need a date? And your asking me?"
"Well, we are supposed to be best friends. I was kind of hoping that you would help me out here."
I sighed.
"Noah, I haven't heard from you in days." I said softly.
"It's because of high school! We don't have any classes together and Mallory is always taking me to some expensive place to flaunt our relationship." He said. I could imagine him flinching when he said the last part of the sentence.
"You could have called." I shot back, "And why aren't you taking Mallory now?"
"We- I broke up with her." He answered. I closed my eyes and breath.
"Pick me up in ten minutes."
-
I looked in the mirror and my pale green eyes stared back at me.
What if this was too much? I dressed in boat shorts with a tucked in t-shirt. My soft black hair splayed over my shoulders.
"Whoa, you look-" I screamed and turned around.
"Jeez Noah." I said, laughing. "You scared the hell out of me!"
He grinned and hugged me tightly.
"It's been a while, huh?" I asked, hugging him back just as tightly. I put my head on his shoulder and he gripped my waist tighter.
"Noah, what are you- Noah!" I yelped as he lifted me into the air and spun me around.
I held on for dear life until he set me on the ground again with a smirk on his face.
"You can't just go and do that!" I said. "You just broke up with your girlfriend!"
He rolled his eyes and tugged on my hand, pulling me closer.
"Come on Ariel, your my best friend. I wouldn't hurt you."
And I knew that. This whole thing just seemed a bit suspicious.
"So whats up with this whole date thing?" I asked. He kept hold of my hand until we got into his car.
"Actually," He started uneasily, "It's a double date."
I gave him a look and released a frustrated sigh.
"With who?" I asked in a calm voice, leaning my head back. He pulled out of my drive way and took a left.
"With who?" I asked again. He glanced at me before turning back to the road.
