Cobblepot's Forbidden Love: 40. Awaken

Flashback-

I walked out onto the balcony with Sal "This is a dream" he said "Your world is out there."

"Why am I here? Why torture me then?" I asked, he looked at me and smiled sadly.

"You need to remember what is real. You need to be you, you need ro do what is right" he told me and dragged somwtin from his back pocket and put it in my hand "Remember."

I looked at the box with skulls and flowers ...my cigarette box mom gave me before she died... I looked in the room where everyone was laughing "Its not real ..right?" I eyed him.

Sao shook his head "You always told me to do what my heart wanted. The same goes for you Princess" he said and kissed my forhead before hugging me "I love you, kid."

I cried into his shirt as he patted my back "Its so hard. It was so easy when you were alive, I dont know who I am."

He sighed "You dont need me, Falcone, Penguin ir anyone to know who you are, Ness. Your a Maroni. Act like one."

My eyes flashed open and I knew as I saw Damian standing in front of me, I knew what I had to do.

"Nessita? Are you alright?"

"Never better" I answered bitterly as I stood up, I looked around at the little warehouse. I looked at him and felt somethin change.

"What are you-?!"

"This warehouse was bought two months ago, a man under the name of Michael Dane. Done a little searching and Damian Michaels' face popped up. Id know him anywhere" Harvey said as we walked up to a sliding door tp the warehouse.

I looked around andnsaw Crows cawing and flying around "It has been two days, why would he keep her here?"

"Against her will? I dont know Penguin why dont you ask him when we-" Harvey opened the door "Son of a bitch."

Zsasz and Butch walked in behind me and my eyes widened. Damian hung from above sunk down and eyes opened wide, his mouth moving. Blood was on his button up shirt.

Behind him were two more bodies with flies flying around them.

Harvey put a hand to his mouth "Well, there goes me getting a sandwhich after this" he said as Jim walked up to the body and started to speak I asked "If Damian is here where is Nessita?"

A shot rang through the warehouse and Damians head fell with a bullet wound in his head "Holy shit!" Harvey yelled and held his gun up, Victor put his gun up behind me and I looked up at the walk above us.

"Dont shoot!" I yelled and knocked down Victors hand.

Nessita was crouched on the wall above us, her head cocked to the side. There was something off about her.

She jumped down in front of Gordon "Hello boys" she said and I seen it, her eyes were green not blue. This was a emerald green, I looked to Harvey "Somethings wrong."

"Wrong? What couod be wrong?" Nessita laughed "Im me. Nessita Maroni. Mm, I am who I am meant to be."

Harvey stepped forward "Now, I know you better than anyone, you-" she flashed forward and pushed him into the wall.

"Yada, yada. Anyone else they want to say they know me?"

Jim pointed a gun on her as Harvey looked up from the floor with his forehead bleeding "Your hypnotized?" he said in realization "Who done it?"

"I am not. I am me" she said as Victor stepped forward hands in front of him.

"Now, Nessy ... Do you remember us running across buildings? Me training you? We are basically brother and sister, this isnt you" he tried as she kicked him in the stomach and sent him flying backwards.

"The student passes the master" she said and looked to where Zsasz dropped his gun, Butch went to grab it but she was surprisingly quicker, she knocoed Butch into Jim and turned to me.

I stared at her as she frabbed the gun "Ness, dont do this. I love you. You are my world. Please" I said as she cocked the pistol "We are engaged! I know that you love me or you wouldnt of said yes!"

She flashed forward and held me against a wall with the pistol under my chin "Sal was right. I kniw who I am. I am a vicious monster who kills" she whispered.

"No. Your a beautiful, assassain. I love you and I want to spend my life with you."

I stared at Oswald as I held the pistol under his chin, the life I couod have still stuck in my mind as a voice whispered to kill him inside my head, I blinked as I stared at him "Its hard. I can't fight the voices."

His eyes looked into mine "You got to. Please, I need you" Oswald gripped my hands as the gun shook in my hand "Lay down the gun."

I shook my head "It needs to happen. I need ....I need the life I saw. I need it, Oz" I said my voice cracking.

"Whatever you saw was not real. We are real. Me and you, since the beginning. Put down the gun" he said and kissed me, I was scared so bad the gun in my hand went off and I dropped it as Oswald looked wide eyed at me.

It snapped me out of it.

"Oh God" I said and covered my mouth with my hands as I looked at him then at a bloody Zsasz, Butch and Harv, James Gordon was leaning against a crate, I looked up at the dead body of my father and ran.

I ran out of the warehouse, far away from Oswald yelling after me. My heart raced and my feet moved, scared and in shock I didn't know where I was running.

I truly am a monster.
